Either bring back straight up sudden death or adopt the college system.

This mish mash of nonsense all because the Saints beat Favre is stupid.

My problem with it is 10 minutes isn’t nearly enough time for this format. I know they cut it for player safety but it’s a farce.

Only change should be that team has a chance to answer if the receiving team scores on first drive. After that it becomes next score wins.

College rules would probably result in high scores but it would be awesome.

I just think it should be a new shortened quarter like basketball.

Each team should walk out with a sealed bid that says where they want the ball. Worse field position "wins" but gets it at that spot.

Eliminates the coin flip and forces strategy into the decision.

Nah. No complicated rules. Sudden death or college rules.

If player safety is really an issue, then just end the game in a tie for both college and pro except in postseason.

as fun as that sounds what do you do when both teams come out with “99 yards 2ft 11.99 inches”?

I say put the ball on the 10 yard line. First and Goal. TD or Nothing

Next team up.

If still tied

First and Goal from the 15.

First and Goal from the 20.

All no FGs.

and wth happens when both teams end up with first and goal from their own 5? Would/could never be seriously considered as games could last and infinite amount of time.

You have it backwards going up rather than down closer to the goal line.

it's not an issue... if it was, Thursday night games on short rest wouldn't exist.

Sudden death was awesome. No more exciting play in football than a kickoff return for a td in sudden death. But they fricked up kickoffs also…. So i guess it doesnt matter.

I think it should be like college, but from the 50.

Both teams getting equal possessions.

No one cares about player safety. Or a 17th game wouldn't have been added. 16 games was perfect. And OT should always be 15 minutes.

Bunch of stupid rules changes, for "just because".

Football was perfect with sudden death OT, all touchbacks at the 20, and extra points at the 2.

Just wondering, is it a penalty if someone runs a different play on the extra point?
Line up in the shotgun at the 2, then dropkick it? Or run a fake from kicking formation back at the 15? In today's game, seems like it would be considered illegal procedure.

They don’t do this?

What’s the format now?

simple solution. let the kickers start kicking from 10 yards and keep increasing the distance. whoever misses loses. players are too tired to let them play overtime
