In fairness, a lot of us (myself included) see the Cobb stadium for the fricking scam it is. I've hated it from the day it was announced.

Because there are enough jock-sniffer politicians and idiot voters willing to oblige team owners in their demands. It's disgusting.

Public financing of stadiums is one of those things that should piss you off, regardless of political affiliation. Screw the greedy billionaires asking for welfare, the jock-sniffing politician and the useful idiot fans.

Drove by the Ballpark at Arlington on vacation around Labor Day. I marveled at how beautiful that park looked. Stupid waste of money to build something new.

Dallas has been trying for years to get the Rangers to move out of Arlington and into a downtown Dallas ballpark (in the name of "urban redevelopment"). The Rangers didn't go the first time (when Globe Life Park was proposed and ultimately built) and didn't go this time.

WFAA is the Dallas-based ABC affiliate. The Dallas media considers Tarrant County (Fort Worth etc.) to be unsophisticated cowpoke hicks. So of course they'll take pot shots at Arlington since they're whining about Dallas being shut out again.

Of course, when the AAC was built, they said nothing about how Dallas taxpayers were being hosed in that deal.

You're right, Arlington, Texas doesn't get hot.

They have a point. Arlington fricking sucks and should not keep winning these projects because they happen to be in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth. It's a miserable commute to go to a game, and there is absolutely nothing to do around the stadiums. It's a terrible sports town.

Moving the Rangers to Dallas would be awesome for the city. Forth Worth needs to accept its place as a suburb and get over it.

Me too. I mean, just throw up some crappy metal bleachers if it's only meant to last 20-30 years.

I cannot understand why Dallas can't make a push to build a downtown stadium. After spending time in both San Fran & St. Louis & seeing how great it is having a ballpark in the city it is a no brainer. I just refuse to go to Arlington & sit in traffic & heat.

Where in downtown Dallas would you put it? Somewhere near the AA Center between 35 and the Trinity River?

To be fair, Jerry World is a MUCHHHH better investment. Thing hosts a ton of other stuff and football is by far the most popular sport in the country.

No it's not. Football stadiums are awful, awful investments. Even "busy" stadiums may host a dozen events over a year.

exactly. rangers have minimum 81 reg season dates to fill. plus preseason/postseason/extra events. rangers can make the money back at the gate. people pay to park every night....
