Dude at 6400 yards I can’t even imagine what those SEC guys would shoot
Some would shoot 65, some would shoot 75….. because they’re college kids
But I’m not sure what goat ranches have to do with this conversation.
You’ve clearly never watched college golf

Probably somewhere around 15th-20th. This year the SEC was on par 70 Sea Island Golf Club right at 7000 yards. Women usually play par 72 at around 6400 yards. She’d just struggle to make a lot of birdies because she’d be hitting lumber into a lot of par 4s, but she’d also absolutely wax a lot of the field due to her consistency. She’d probably shoot even to maybe 2 under each day.
Sea Island actually sets up really well for her vis a vis the men. She'd be genuinely competitive there. She could be competitive at 7,000 yards no problem - she plays that all the time in practice, pro ams, and so on. That's not an uncomfortable distance for her, and she wouldn't be hitting lumber into every par 4 as some here are saying - she's long enough to where she'd be hitting a 6 or 7 iron where her male counterparts are hitting a PW.
It's places like the Honors Course or similar that the men's SEC teams play where they can start stretching it up to 7,400 and beyond where she would relatively struggle.

So question to those that watch the LPGA… is it like the WNBA in that the best in the world still struggle with basic skills? Like some of them still struggle to make layups and their jumpers might be broken
I don’t want to just automatically compare her consistent to a male player’s consistent

No, not at all. Far different than the WNBA. Their consistency is incredible - golf, especially women's golf, is a truly global game, so it draws from an entirely different kind of player pool than women's basketball.
For context, I played high level junior golf, recruited to play D1, played on a high school team with a bunch of guys who played for Power 4 schools (including multiple who played at SEC schools, multiple more who played at ACC schools), played with and against a multiple time major winner, have since played with a bunch of former D1 players and a handful of former pros...
Nelly is long enough that she wouldn't be totally overwhelmed at 7,000 - 7,100 yards. She can comfortably cruise in the 107 - 110 MPH range when she wants to (for point of reference, most of the top SEC guys are probably in the 118 - 125 MPH range). She is the best woman on the planet and far, far more consistent and more accurate than almost any collegiate player with the exception of freaks like Koivun. Even at the top collegiate programs, a lot of those kids are still pretty bomb and gougey and are still learning how to play the sport, shape shots, think through the problem in front of them, refine their touch, etc.
It would also be course dependent - as I said above, she would be genuinely competitive at a place like Sea Island or Birmingham West (where they used to play the SEC match play). She would struggle at a place like Karsten or some other 7,400+ yard behemoth that is wide open.

Does it really matter at that point? All that this pedantry has taught me is that a woman hasn't made the cut at a PGA event in 81 years.

What do we think Nelly Korda would shoot over three days at Sawgrass at 7200 yards?
Because all 6 LSU golfers were better than +1 over three rounds….

Her driver stock yardage is 252 carry. I don't think comparing men and women in golf is a good thing. They play a different game.
She's an awesome golfer, I wish I had her fluid swing. I'm a huge fan. That being said, It's 2 different games with the distances. It's not a talent thing, It's a strength thing.

No, It's actually a more nuanced game in some respects. The field is nowhere near as deep as a men's field though. After the top 30, the skill level falls off quickly.
Nelly and the top women golfers are extremely talented. They have to play a different game, sometimes with more touch because they can't spin it like the men inside of 150. From 220-170, they use hybrids and long irons while the men are hitting 6 and 7 iron 200+. It's not just driver distance.
I would say greenside and putting they are pretty close.

Well said. And I think that it would benefit a lot of amateur (male) golfers to watch the LPGA as it is much more relatable.

Going to need some citation for this.
If it's the Sea Best, they haven't played it at Sawgrass in a few years, and there wasn't single team that was better than +2, and they alternated between Dye's Valley and TPC, and they also don't fully tip it out, either.
And for that matter, Sawgrass is another course where she would do well relative to the men.

Yes it is you turd. You are saying she would be all sec level. Here is that list. It’s 21 golfers
What's your opinion of where she'd rank?
He said 15-20 and you are basically calling him an idiot.
Where would she rank?

A woman golfer has never made a single cut at a pga tour event
Well first off, nobody ever mentioned the PGA Tour in this thread. It was the SEC Golf mentioned. And it took literally 5 seconds to find out you're wrong.
Babe Didrikson Zaharias made the cut.

how would Nelly Korda fare in the men’s SEC golf championship
The best college golfer in the world was a Junior at Auburn and recently turned pro. He just won a PGA Tour event at -25 for four days. The course played about 7,400 yards and safe to say she would have missed the cut.
The best SEC golfers play at a different level.
She's incredible but physically a woman is at a severe disadvantage playing against men. The courses are just too long for women.

I don’t think it’s safe to say that at all.
She would more than likely miss the cut, but the chance she would make it is way above zero

Truth is she would struggle to make any team and I’d bet heavily against her ever being a starter
You are greatly confusing golf and tennis.

Why are people saying a woman made a cut on the PGA Tour? It has never happened
“Babe did it!!!!”
Yeh? Tell me about the Oga your in 1945 considering it won’t exist for another 30 years

Nobody gives a shite about the PGA Tour in this thread. You're coming close to mentally slow levels of retardation now

LSUs team this year stroke average in order
70.3
70.31
70.75
71.15
71.17
71.71
71.80
72.27
73.19
Where is Nelly cracking the starting lineup playing a season full of 7,000 plus yard courses? Mathematically she would be about at 72.5-73(just using distance and club metrics not taking into account slope ratings) That alonehas her roughly dead last on the team

Yea, it's pretty safe to say since history tells us they can't make cuts
The best comparison to Nelly would probably be when Annika tried in 2003. She was 5-6 time major winner and #1 in the world. She missed the cut by four strokes.
I'd agree that is it more than zero percent chance, but definitely not way more than zero.
