Really just depend on if it was a complete release and stretch, where basically Melo would be hard pressed to ask for any real amount of money from a contender if he has one iota of concern about winning.

Even still they agree on a buyout, Melo probably cant ask any real money from a contender.

Have a pretty firm grasp on one scenario, but if someone can add clarification (Dont think this deal works) can Melo be either bought out/traded in some way where the Thunder attach a second rounder and another team can agree to pay a small portion of the traded salary/buyout?

Last year was umprecendented worse tanking ever. To expect 5 tanks again when last year was the first and only year ever....I’m not so sure epy.

Melo is, was, and always will be a bum. He's done well on the National team surrounded by All-Stars, in international play where chucking isn't detrimental.

They are going to use the Stretch provision, I assume.

Will have to pay out the remainder of his contract out over a few years, but it will save them like 90 million dollars in lux tax payments.

Maybe tanking is a stretch, but Dallas, Phoenix, Clippers, Grizz, and Kings are all going to suck

Grizz won’t be bad. Can see them besting Pels in the standings.

Phoenix won’t be terrible though. They’ll score points, just give up quite a bit too.

Dallas can play too and depending on how NBA ready Doncic is, they’re going to be in games up until the 4th Q.

Clippers and Kings will most def suck though

Phoenix and Dallas seem like they’re gonna at least try to win at the start of the year

Memphis obviously will be too. Not saying any of them will be good but that’s a departure from last year

The Houston Rockets are among the teams that will have interest in Carmelo Anthony once he secures his free agency, according to league sources
