They don't really need him (not that any team does), but I could definitely see Melo going to the Lakers.

We can only hope.

They will obviously be better, but neither only looking at this year Pels are still easily ahead of all three in terms of realistic production.
PG is a big concern, but hopefully dealin Dell can get one of the PGs that are on the last year of their rookie deals that have to wait before signing RFA or the end of the year. McConnell or Dinwidde come to mind.

Think melo could do really well if he would accept the role that he is at in his career. Just have no reason to expect him to do that unfortunately

Lebron might be the one guy that could get Melo to stfu and embrace a reduced role but yeah, I’d rather the Lakers steer clear of him. Let him go to CC

Omg if this is the Lakers starting lineup on day 1.
Rondo

The Celtics won most years in 50s.
Syracuse got one behind mvp season by schayes.
St Louis won one behind petit mvp season and Hagan.
Neil Johnston and Paul arizin won one for phila.
Usually Boston. Russell, heinsohn, cousy, Sam Jones.
Going back decades
Only a couple of teams competed for championship each season.
For years until Cartwright, Mj was behind Celtics and Detroit. Could not even win east.

At this point, he's a poorman's Kuzma. I don't see why the Lakers would pick him up, outside of him just playing with LeBron and them knowing that they aren't winning a championship this season anyway.

Please let Houston sign Carmelo.

Melo can play the 3??
Wouldn't he be a defensive black hole?

Melo pretty much always played the 3, he can't play anywhere on defense so it doesn't really matter if he's a 3 or a 4 there

Hes still a competent slasher, playmaker, and shooter. There is still something there. He needs to accept that he isn't a ball stopper who controls the offense, and morph into the secondary wing role that would heighten what he still does well

I want to see him win a title, so I hope does wind up with GSW.
He was straight money in the 2003 NCAA Tournament, and his wife is LaLa who I absolutely adore.

Yep, hard to see him accepting a very reduced role on the bench for a contender, that is not going to allow him much freedom to deviate.
A team I could honestly see outside of the Lakers if Lebron signs off would be the Pistons. They still are struggling even after the Blake deal to move tickets in the new arena. With Kennard, Bullock, S. Johnson, they can sell him a starting role and it not be an outright lie. Casey could sell him and see a fit as possibly doing DeMar things.

I dont even know how far down the bench hed be if he must changed how he played the game. Which, admittingly, is a lot to ask of a former scoring champion

Wizards would be a great entertainment destination for Carmelo too. Add Dwight and Melo to an already volatile locker room, what could go wrong?

From the same document, here are some other roles that melo could do well in
