There's enough depth on the roster to overcome Beltran's shortcomings in the first half. I think he will have a much better second half, anyway.

Look, if they wanted to give us Holiday for one of our 20-30 range prospects, you'd want Luhnow to at least listen.

I just don't want to deplete the cupboard at all for the deal(s) that we need to make.

Holliday and Warren for M. Gonzalez

You better get Marwin's name out of your whore mouth.

I don't think you understand the point. More than likely the Eloy/Cease package couldn't nab one of the aforementioned players, so they moved to JQ.
Did you even read the tweet dumbass?

I can imagine his reaction to regular Yankee fan criticism would not go too well.

Yes. Like I said you don't have the prospects for any of those. Now more healthy organizations have more than just two top 100 prospects with which to deal. They also don't try to offer injured players below the Mendoza line as a headliner for Michael Fulmer. Lester we may disagree on what an ACE is but we seem to agree on what it takes to get a higher level starter and it was above what the Cubs could pay.

Big upgrade over Beltran... imagine that .262/.366/.511 helping out
If Beltran is out, Gattis would be the DH and we call up a backup catcher from AAA. Kind of already wanted this. Gattis is probably a better DH than Beltran and he's not that great at catcher. But "veteran leadership" blah blah. Playoff presence. We're stuck with Beltran until years end

The Yankees revealed to reporters earlier today that Michael Pineda has a partial UCL tear and has been recommended to undergo Tommy John surgery, and the bad injury news doesn’t stop there. Via Andrew Marchand of ESPN.com, GM Brian Cashman also elaborated on Greg Bird’s ankle injury today and revealed that the young first baseman may require surgery.
Bird is dealing with an ailment called “os trigonum” syndrome — an excess bone growth that could require surgical removal. Bird is headed for another opinion on his ankle and will have further discussions with medical professionals, the team and his agents before deciding on a course of action. The surgery would sideline Bird for “at least another two month,” per Marchand. One alternative is a second cortisone shot, per MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch (on Twitter).

Get the cortisone shot and play a damn game son.

Yankees better just bring up the kids, I know Judge is having a historic season and they are in the thick of it. But with all of the injuries they are just not ready.
Montgomery has been great, Didi, Castro, Judge, and Sanchez... lets worry about next year and perfect health

I thought about this too and I figured that the other clubs were asking for more than they should.
But isn't it possible that the Cubs could have jumped the gun? Maybe closer to the deadline, the price would have went down.
But there's a chance it may not have. But normally, they do.

quote:don't think so on QUintana... The GM of the Sox knew he had all the control with him having a great contract. If he pitched like he did in June the price would only increase. It would take him sucking for the price to go down considering what he is owed over the next few years.
the price would have went down.

That's possible of course. I think the bar is set with having to send an Eloy-caliber prospect at the least tho.
Or in the Astros case they could maybe get away from giving their top guy, but it may take the next 3 or 4 guys in line.
