With Miami’s ownership situation up in the air, commissioner Rob Manfred has said that the team would need to consult with the league before a potential fire sale, tweets Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

To this point, the team has stood on that notable piece of leverage, continuing to ask for “two very top prospects” in its conversations with interested rivals. The South Siders have pressed the Astros for Francis Martes and Kyle Tucker, while asking the Yankees to headline a deal with either Gleyber Torres or Clint Frazier.

Team has too many holes unless you think another 2006 miracle can happen again. When can Stanton get out of his deal?

he can opt out after 2020, if he opts in he will be under contract until 2027

I agree. I don't see Donaldson putting the team over the top. Then Gyorko would have to move to SS or 2B, which would make the defense even worse. I don't see Diaz, Wacha, Grichuk having much trade value either. I like what I'm seeing from DeJong. I think he could be the answer at 3B. Reyes was untouchable last year, so I don't know why he'd suddenly be trade bait. Even with arm surgery. I really like Sierra. He does all the little things well this team desperately needs. I don't see any major trades being made unless Girsch decides to sell.

I find it interesting that 2 teams won a World Series the year after Showalter left. And Brenly didn't even have any managerial experience.
I don't get the fuss over Adams. He never showed much until now when he got an opportunity to play, so of course his trade value was low. That's not being "worked over".

I was surprised to find out he has only driven in 100 runs once. I could still see some team make a play for him.

At least three teams have expressed some interest in Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon, according to a report from Jon Heyman of Fan Rag. The Angels, Blue Jays, and Royals have each “at least mentioned” the infielder as a possible deadline target, per Heyman.

Kicking things off today was a report from Mike Ozanian of Forbes, in which he said an agreement is in place between current owner Jeffrey Loria and Miami billionaire Jorge Mas. Per Ozanian, the deal will be finalized at a $1.17B price tag — unless “an unusual twist” scuttles things.

The Twins are “checking in” on a few starting pitchers around the game, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Minnesota is seemingly limiting its interest to controllable arms at this point.

Talk about selling low

Tigers would be dumb to deal Fulmer unless they're getting a huge huge return. I dunno if the Cubs have the elite talent left in their system to pair with Schwarber to get close to that. After Jimenez there's a pretty big drop off
Schwarber is slashing .210/320 in almost a years worth of MLB ABs. The Cubs should probably hold on to him as well with where he's at right now

Fulmer would bring an insane haul and would be the best starter available.

I was hoping Jeter's group would win:

Yeah they would need to add a lot more than just Schwarber

Some smoke about Atlanta getting in the picture for Quintana
