I liked the dribbling dinosaur so much I bought a shirt at Foot Locker not long after they came into the league.

I really don’t think the McNair’s want it. They put that little trace of light blue in the alt uni, but they could have gone full Oiler blue (not the design of course) in this last rebrand..fans were clamoring for it…and they didn’t do it. And the name “Texans” was the old man’s (Bob) choice from the get go so I don’t think they would change it for that reason alone.

I hadn't heard that. Which is somewhat surprising when the team would make a lot more selling Oilers merchandise than whatever fee they would pay Adams. Texans is such a dull and uninspiring name.

I completely agree. And then the “rebranding” was a horrible effort IMO where they essentially just made the blue even darker, more or less black on TV with a shitty number font.

I remember when the city was awarded the team. They let fans vote on their favorite nickname (just an opinion vote…not to actually decide it) before they announced the official one. If I remember it correctly, the choices were Stallions, Apollos, Wildcatters and Texans. Any of the first three would’ve been better than Texans.

Not to mention….there were Dallas Texans long before Houston Texans.

So, it’s also unoriginal.

Wouldn’t be binding even if he had.

Ownership just fell in love with the logo of a steer with a star for an eye other names played better but the Texans logo just the logo by itself original was on a white helmet

I was at downtown at the Grand announcement and they had the whole shooting match on this play and all the little mini helmets were white

I remember that. It was a surprise when the actual helmets turned out blue.

John McClain had been saying for weeks that Texans would be the name.

I think they did it because the Titans and Colts had white helmets. Admittedly, I could be mixing that up with why the Bills went from white helmets to red in the 80s (Patriots, Colts, and Dolphins with the white helmets).

I remember hearing a joke to the effect of the Washington Bullets were changing their name to remove the depiction of crime and violence. They were going to just go by the “Bullets”. Something like that.

Pretty much every nba team in the 90s that did a logo change ended up regretting it

All the Reds did is win with this logo. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

One of these two or both instead of that crap and 800 logos we have now.

Glad I am not the only one who thinks that the Alabama script A is a knockoff of the Braves.
