Ribery could be sold for 65-80 million euros
a team that can afford Torres, wouldn't have to sell off someone like Ribery to get him. See what we're saying?
Also, that doesn't mean Bayern could buy Ribery now, it's just that he's worth that much.

count city out unless mancini has a hard on for torres. city is in the market for defensive help with injuries. not saying they dont need offensive help, but if they want to make a run for top four, they need defenders.
i wouldn't rule it out completely, as new ownership has showed they are willing to part with boatloads of cash for talent if the manager wants it, but from what I have seen mancini seems confident in the talent he has up front.

Using Ribery as "trade bait" for Torres is being able to afford Torres. Ribery is equal to the amount of money that Torres is equal to.

That's a shame. I always wanted to know a paleontologist.

Someone was absolutely correct on the tangential point about West Ham having a fantastic academy and staying financially solvent by selling youngsters or emerging players.

Does anyone have any numbers as to Pool's debt situation? I'd be interested to see how bad things actually are. I'm wondering whether the debt is incurred by the owners and some holding company, or through the club itself.

I know it's not nearly as bad as is reported

The only place in the world that Torres will go if he leaves Liverpool would be back to Spain.
Torres said in an earlier interview this season that he wants to play in Italy one day. The most logical club would be AC Milan.

liverpool needs to start off by trimming the fat on their current squad (itandje, voronin, dossena, kyriagos, degen, etc.) and bring in a winger (or two) and by winger i mean someone who can beat their man and deliver a pinpoint accurate cross (a la 2000-2004 nobby solano FTW)a decent centre half and a centre mid. at the same time maybe even go after someone like van der vaart, they should play kuyt more centrally (maybe they have been doing this i havent watched many prem. games as of late to be honest) let him play with torres. if they can get the personnell to run some variation of a 4-2-3-1 they could use ryan babel as a second striker, otherwise they should move him. they could also sign mike grella, but thats a whole nother topic.

let's just say that i hope either wolves or liverpool get the three points saturday... a draw doesn't help either side enough
btw liverpool's my favorite of the "big 4"

No place else to put this, so... one of my stocking stuffers was an Arsenal pint glass and bar towel. My gf rocks.

Honestly, I just recently started following EPL about a month ago. Liverpool is my girlfriend's favorite club just because she wants to blow Torres so I watch occasionally. The Portsmouth game was pretty shitty to watch if you're a Liverpool fan. The team gave up so easily after conceding then getting the red on Mascherano. Very unimpressed.

if real wants to spend enough, just about anybody would go there
i don't know where else torres would end up
man u? i doubt liverpool sells him to man u, and i doubt sir alex would pay real-prices for him
arsenal? no way
Chelsea, Man City, Barcelona, Ac Milan. There are some viable destinations.

The money isn't there.

they just paid a shite-ton to get ibra to be their striker. i don't know if torres would play the wing. would tehy sell henry?

Ac Milan.
i don't know if they have the money. they're in financial problems and rumors had them almost selling pato last year

yeah i know that whole post is basically just like a pipe dream 'let me trade reggie bush for winston justice and two first round picks lol' scenario. just trying to compile a summary of what needs to go on.
now with the squad as is, you can try that 4-2-3-1 im talking about with
GK=Reina RB=Johnson RCB=Carragher LCB=Agger LB=Aurelio DM=Mascherano CM (the Alonso role)=Aquilani RM=Benayoun CAM=Gerrard LM=Riera ST=Torres
that would be your first choice XI obviously
second XI GK=Diego Cavalieri RB=Martin Kelly RCB=Dani Ayala LCB=Skrtel LB=Insua DM=Plessis CM=Lucas RM=Kuyt CAM=Babel LM=El Zhar ST=N'Gog
this however would be more of a 4-4-2, just kept the 4-2-3-1 labels.
n'gog and babel play up top together, lucas is the main man in midfield like he was at gremio
they should try and sign mata or silva from valencia to replace riera as the first XI LM.
and the key for making the 4-2-3-1 work again is adjusting to the roles/keeping a solid mixture of height and skill. with benayoun on the right flank, you know he wants to cut in which gives johnson the width to work in.
on the left, aurelio and riera had a pretty good understanding going, but if its insua starting (mostly because of injury), make sure he know to stay back as a speed cover whenever johnson goes up. Mascherano knows to stay home and cover in defence, and can drift wide right to cover for Johnson(when he joins in the attack as benayoun moves more inside)
Lucas/Gerrard as the Mascherano partner need to develop that rapport with mascherano to know when to be up, and when to drop (lucas is better at this now, but he doesnt have the passing of aquilani)
aquilani needs to be thrown into the fire this next 3 weeks as there's a shite ton of games, and while i fully expect him to be caught upfield a few too many times, he just needs to learn the EPL.
just some random thoughts.

No Italian team has the money for big deal moves for Torres.
Alot of them are having to downgrade teir stadiums to around the 40k mark and still have over half of them empty. My dad said he could get a season ticket for around $200 at Juventus, which is pitiful.
No Gate money = no money the tv deals aren't on the sclae of the EPL and the big money backers are more likely to go to the EPL than Italy.
