James Milner has done a great job of stepping up in the MF. I honestly believed AV would reel a little without Gareth Barry, but yall are still in for the kill at the moment.

Friedel has also been awesome.

I've run through the emotional roller coaster with Barry leaving. He was a staple here but I think in the long run it's really been a blessing for us.

Friedel has bailed us out of some lapses but I have been really happy with our defensive effort this year.

I'm also happy with Aggy and I always want more out of Ashley Young but he has really been huge for us at times as well.

Ashley Young is extremely fortunate the media hasn't pumped him up too much. Psychologically there are no unrealistic expectations that he had to exceed, and he does seem to have the potential, not to mention pace and is always insistent in getting behind defenders. Decent finisher, too.

Ashley Young+Theo Walcott+Aaron Lennon=

DA FUTURE

that video was pretty badass. i want an arsenal video like that with arshavin covering Hero by Enrique Iglesias.

Pool isn't in all that bad a position right now. They need a player or two to step up, someone like Ryan Babel maybe, but they aren't written off the top four just yet.

if Babel helps this team in anyway I'll be shocked. They said today he won't be sold which shocked me unless it's a ploy.

Either way they're signing Maxi Rodriguez so there's some excitement. I don't know where he'll play since Kuyt isn't allowed to be on the bench, but we really need an attacking winger with the ability to create.

I think I'd like to see Van Nistelrooy come in too.

just using him as an example cuz i can't remember any players on pool's team. i always thought benetiz didn't utilize babel enough, but he has sucked it up when he has been in.
maxi will be a good option. they can get him for a free at the end of the season as well.

reports are saying he hasn't been playing great and subsequently hasnt seen the field all that much.

then again maybe a change of scenery and a spanish-friendly team would reinvigorate his form.

god i hope we pick up a striker and that Cameroon quickly drops out of the ACN

he'll be on a free loan now anyways I believe, for some reason he's fallen out of favor at Atletico

Babel came as a striker and ended up playing only as a winger. He actually doesn't have a bad strike rate at all, but he just never gets to play. I don't know what side to take in that debate. He clearly can be a great player, but half the time he's out there he just loafs and hurts the team.

Maybe he'll be unlocked somewhere else.

who? Carlton Cole? Gignac? I think those two will be priced higher than Wenger is willing to pay. I'm thinking someone like Frederic Nimani, Demba Ba, or someone like that. They fit Wenger's profile more. Big African Strikers who can speak French.

It's good that he's stayed these extra two games. I think we will have enough cover with Diaby and Ramsey, but I wouldn't mind Wenger buying a DM as cover.

I don't know. I haven't been scouting anyone we've been linked with. Just someone physical enough to hold off a gaddamn defender.

yeah, actually I'm not too worried about his absence, especially since it's a very well timed opportunity for aaron ramsey to flourish

I think he would be excellent as a striker. He's a pretty terrible winger, excluding that sweet cross to Torres in the West Ham game.

he just reminds me of Henry in so many ways, but then he reverts to the lazy disinterested Babel and I hate him all over again.

Who the hell knows what his issue is.

I'm loving the cheezestache he grows on occasion. I might grow one when I grow my Paul Scharner mullet mohawk.

I also can't wait for commentators to refer to Aaron Ramsey's engine, or working in the engine room of the midfield.

hope they break out some american metaphors, like "his motor never stops"
"a real downhill runner"
"he leaves it all on the pitch"

Joe Cole sings this song really aggressively in the face of Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda in the locker room.
