Does anyone not like Shohei Ohtani?

About 30 people on the MSB according to the reactions to my post

I think people like shohei just fine, its just no one ever likes when superstar players join teams that are already winning and competing for championships.

Mickey Mantle
Probably.
When we say "universally beloved" we mean pretty much unanimously loved, where fans in every city pulled for a player. Mickey Mantle was that guy.
Two more recent guys who were universally respected, a guy many pulled for seemed to be Derek Jeter, and before him, Don Mattingly, aka "Donnie Baseball". But not "beloved" as was The Mick".

As odd as it sounds, I think the late 90s/early00s yankee legends of jeter, posada, and Rivera were all pretty respected. I don’t think even many Boston fans hated jeter, posada, Rivera. Sure they hated the yanks and probably hated A rod, maybe Clemens, and maybe a few others but those three dudes seem to be pretty beloved.
do you live in new york city or something

this is wildly inaccurate. respected, sure? universally beloved? are you fricking insane

So many people in here don’t know about Puckett’s past…beating his wife, groping females in public, cheating on his wife, urinating in public…

Aaron Judge is universally loved except for butthurt Astros fans. He's not arrogant or cocky, plays the game the right way, and is good with the fans, even though he hates the attention. He's loved in the clubhouse, and is clearly loved by MLB, as he has been named CAPTAIN of the USA team in the WBC.

Mike Trout
Has anyone ever actually seen Trout play? He plays on a bad west coast team and is always hurt on top of that.

Pretty sure sox fans dont like him
Never had an issue with Rivera.
In a weird way, Jason Varitek may qualify because a huge chunk of Yankees fans hate ARod.

posada
A lot of people hated Posada, he was annoying as frick and if I remember correctly said some pretty heinous shite to Pedro.
