Are those 6 bowl games play-in games? Is the same true for conf. champ games?

I actually like moving the schedule up a week. I also like the idea of starting the playoffs quicker. And I don’t want any BYEs.

Do all what he said, and let the other 20+ non-important bowl games host the week zero games. Thats 40+ teams playing a solid week zero game that means something. They would get way more attention on the weedeater bowl inviting preseason top teams than they get hosting 6-6 teams in mid december. Then rankings come out after that. run the schedule and do away with meaningless conference championship games and make that first playoff games.

Bowl games need to die. The bowls and NCAA are nothing but corrupt entities that have kept college football in the dark ages for decades. Thankfully the NCAA has been neutered so now just let the bowls die.

And if 2 teams want to arrange a game after the season and they are not part of the playoff then let them. But to have an archaic system like the bowls that will screw over teams still exist is nuts. The good news is they are quickly dying so I give them a few more years. Once we go to 24 teams they’ll be dead.

Superdome is a shite show. Last time I was there it took me 45 minutes from getting into the stadium to use the bathroom and grab a drink and get to my seat. We like logistical superior stadiums around here

when did you last go? The Superdome vastly improved itself for the Super Bowl last year...

While the Rose Bowl looks great on TV, the stadium itself is mediocre...concessions were outside and it took a while to get in...this was LSU/UCLA game.

Pate is not resurrecting the bowls - he's expanding the playoff.

Here is the solution. TLDR - 4 teams, BCS formula.
Season ends on Jan 1st. Players must be back on campus before spring semester / quarter starts.

Most teams play two games against junk opponents (FCS, G5). That means there are only 10 legit games. No team that has lost 20% of its legit games deserves a shot to play for a title - looking at you Ohio St, looking at you, Miami. This is especially the case if those losses come outside opponents in the Top 10.

Playoff is 4 teams, BCS formula.
10 days after CCGs (~Dec 15), semi-finals, on campus. 4 travels to 1, 3 travels to 2.
Day after, bowl season starts.
Losers from semi-final play at 12pm on Jan 1st, on the east coast. Title game follows. Rose Bowl is fine, whatever.

The current trajectory is destroying the regular season. Ohio St loses to a bad Michigan team - had no effect. Miami loses to two mid-level teams. Had no effect. This is absurd. How long before the Iron Bowl means nothing? SEC CG already means nothing. They are killing the regular season and eroding the importance of those late season rivalry games. Everyone running CFB right now is an idiot.

The only good thing about the Rose Bowl is that it holds more people than all of the other stadiums for bowl... I guess Jerry World would be next largest?

Having championship games in 70,000 seat stadiums are ridiculous... except New Orleans lol

Count the SEC in this group too.

Except I’d simply remove that conference championships / bowl weekend over Thanksgiving and make it a bye. It’s not needed;

Thanksgiving football games do monster numbers, they would never skip that week for a bye

Is that more due to Thanksgiving weekend itself (obviously, for the NFL on the Thursday, it is), or because it’s rivalry week / the final regular season games to determine conference races / playoff positioning? Does correlation equal causation? I typically am traveling on that Saturday and don’t watch quite as much as I do most Saturdays.

Even if so, perhaps it would be more than offset via the suggestion to move the season up a week, and getting two weekends without the NFL at the beginning rather than just one.

Conference championships should be the de facto start of the playoffs.

Not bad, except Pate is a fence-riding hack that I’ve refused to listen to for the last two years. He’s a charlatan who sweet talks the mongoloids of the world. If Pate says it, it’s wrong as frick.

Every coach I have heard interviewed loves this solution. So of course, they will never do it! What will the ugly sports coat brigade do?!
