What couldve been done to prevent the destruction of western civilizations
We did this to ourselves with our votes. We watched people like Mitch McConnell go after the Tea Party and never punished him for it. The list is endless. Lindsey Graham, Paul Ryan, Schumer, Pelosi, Grassley, Cruz, Rubio, waddling pants-crapper Nadler, and so on. We just kept voting in people that are trashcans as humans and now we sit back and ask, "what went wrong?"
We voted for the worst people on the planet and gave them tons of power. That's what happened. We're idiots.
I think Democrats would rather deal with Trump. He's older and way dumber than Vance. Trump has no impulse control and will make countless idiotic remarks that get the Democrat people eager for 2028 and have them donating like crazy. As long as they take the House they can thwart everything Trump wants, do another worthless impeachment, and gear up for 2028.
That sounds like activity on a classified system that gets logged.

From a recent Quinnipiac Poll
When asked how Pam Bondi is handling her job as U.S. Attorney General, 32 percent of voters approve, while 53 percent disapprove and 15 percent did not offer an opinion.
71% of Independents disapprove of the handling of the Epstein stuff. Trump is badly underwater with Independents on a lot of issues. This is disastrous. This voting block now determines elections. The party base is irrelevant now.
Not to derail but also from this link and somewhat related to Epstein / Justice etc - half of Americans feel the American Dream is no longer attainable. The American Dream is important to the morale of the nation. Take it away, make it seem impossible, and you will see radicalization.

The AI push is a threat to national security and individual autonomy.
Someone go ask Elon if he'll be living on UBI when AI takes everyone's job. The answer, of course, is no. Some of you will defend this, foolishly. If you are rich, but not in that tier of people that control things, you are no different than the poor in the eyes of people like Elon and entities like Palantir. You're just another piece on the board, subjected to the algorithm. Your assets and wealth will be seized for the public good. Elon's will not. When that happens, I wonder how many people here will still suck on Elon's nuts.
It is far more likely that this is the worst thing to ever happen to humanity than for this to provide a net benefit at the margins.
We're not going to get more than one or two (at most) cracks at this, with regard to voting. If we don't radically change how we vote, it's going to slip away very quickly.

You could set up mortars in the motorpool at Ft. Bliss and have rounds impact in Mexico. It's about a 5-10 min flight time for a drone, to get from Mexico to being over Ft. Bliss, for commercial, off the shelf drones. "Military" or high-end drones would obviously be a much shorter flight time.

Their messages were designed to make military members adopt a position whereby orders were presumed to be illegal, rather than the other way around. Every military member is given training on this, Congress knows this. There's simply no reason for them to give the messages they gave, going direct to military members. They are the Congress - if they had issues with the orders being given, they have their own mechanisms to take that up with the Executive. Rest assured, if Republicans did the same thing, Merrick Garland would have already had them in prison.

If Bondi wanted convictions, she would have gone to the reddest area in the country. Military orders are presumed legal and there's a long line of cases that have established this. When you go out there and seek to erode that, and erode good order and discipline within the military, those are all crimes.
People have questioned Kurt's death since 1994. His marriage with Courtney was pretty rocky. A lot of people questioned her influence on him. Also, she had her own band, Hole. Their album, Live Through This, was released the same week as Kurt's death. The bassist for Courtney's band (last name Pfaff) died the same year as Kurt. Both were drug addicts, though she had recently gotten sober, allegedly, and had gone back home to the midwest. She died during a trip back to WA to get all of her stuff. She was together with Hole for one album and one tour, I believe, and things didn't go that well, even though she was a great musician. She and Kurt were friends, shared music ideas, and talked philosophy. People around them said there was no romantic connection but Courtney was very jealous and made it known.
The narrative around Kurt's death has never sat well with people that looked into the details. There have been rumors for over 30 years that Courtney played a role in his death. There are some fan-made documentaries on youtube that are interesting and worth the time to watch on a rainy day.
Nevermind and In Utero were both fantastic albums. Nirvana was part of what may have been the greatest year in rock history - 1991. The list of albums released that year is nothing short of incredible. Grunge produced the two best MTV Unplugged shows ever with Nirvana and Alice in Chains. Overall, Grunge doesn't get the credit it deserves. These were good bands, often playing in Drop-D tuning and the best of them had the world's best drummers and best vocalists, with only a few notable exceptions being outside of the grunge genre, like Neil Peart from Rush, on drums.
Heroin took quite a few people from the grunge era. It's not hard to see how Kurt lost his way, got overwhelmed, and took an early exit. It's also plausible that foul play was involved. Some think he was on the verge of breaking Nirvana apart, for his own sanity, thinking the fame, money, attention, and pressure was a negative influence. Remember, a substantial part of the Grunge vibe was being in music for the sake of being in music, not for purely commercial interests. Some speculated that Courtney felt this would put a stop to her gravy train and decided that Kurt was worth more to her if he was dead, rather than being married to the guy that broke up Nirvana and decided to live isolated from the fame and the fans. Some felt she believed that her career would fade away if Kurt broke up Nirvana, because she was tethered to him.
Many people in music have questioned Courtney Love's talent and ability to front a band. Her band did put out some good songs, though. "Violet" and "Doll Parts" were two, early, good ones, from Live Through This, with lyrics like, "when they get what they want, and they never want it again...go on take everything, take everything, I want you to...". The retrospective analysis fueled conspiracy theories.
"Celebrity Skin" was good. Their best song may have been "Malibu", in 1998. Probably when she was at her best in terms of looks and talent, which is sort of strange, given it was four years after the tragic and unexpected death of her husband, who was literally on top of the music world in 1994. Didn't seem to have any lasting effects on her. But, perhaps music was her therapy.
(I just recently finished watching some videos on Grunge, Kurt and Layne, their lives, their spirals downward, the odd tale of Demri Parrot, Layne Staley's off and on girlfriend who also died after destroying her life with heroin, Kurt's death, and am editing a book review about the Grunge era trying to do things to make some money, so this stuff is fresh in my head right now. Just prior to Layne's death he told people that she'd come to visit him in the apartment that he secluded himself within. Alice in Chains recorded Unplugged just a few months prior to Demri's death. She had severe health issues from heroin abuse and was deteriorating quickly at that time, and if you watched Layne, it was obvious at that recording he was spiraling down as well. That show was pretty much it for AIC.)

First of all, you need to realize it's not just Democrats. All of DC is adversarial to our nation. So, stop voting for the same scumbags to go back to DC, over and over. Like Mike Johnson. Like Lindsey Graham.
The more you continue to point the finger at "the other side" and fail to realize both sides are the same, the better it is for them, and the worse it is for us. We divide ourselves, they conquer.
Fox is for Republicans what MSNBC is for Democrats. Move to the middle, be independent, reject the status quo of having to declare red or blue. What DC and the power brokers fear the most is for the population to see that they are all the same.

You say this while completely ignoring the boondoggle project he literally vetoed.
Then Trump signed off on a spending bill sending many times this water project amount to go to places like Egypt and Jordan and Israel.
The water project has been in the works since the 60s. It's definitely another issue that is more state than federal; but, let's not pretend Trump vetoed this out of any urges to be fiscally conservative or eliminate waste. It was his first veto and this project was to provide clean drinking water to Americans. Lot of options out there that are better suited for your first veto.
At Davos, Trump "hinted at a $800bn reconstruction fund for Ukraine" according to Alastaire Crooke. He's not interested in pinching pennies, and we all know he's going to sign up US taxpayer dollars to cover a blank check to do whatever Israel wants with regard to Iran, Gaza, and rebuilding Gaza as an Israeli vacation resort. There's just no way to believe this water project jumped out to him as wasteful spending that demanded his veto, in light of his other spending.

No, it isn’t. It was a local project and not deserving of federal funding. I thought the Massie brigade like fiscal responsibility?
It was his first veto. It had unanimous, bipartisan support. Maybe it was wasteful, but the optics definitely are not good.

You seem exceptionally angry about Massie's desire to shine light on people that enjoy watching torture videos, and openly state this as part of their correspondence with someone known to have abused and trafficked young girls. Also, when the admin released emails about the Mar A Lago raid a few years back, they left plenty of email addresses and full names exposed. Blanche's comments here don't make a lot of sense.

Massie is burying himself in real time here.
He's not, though. That's not the perception anywhere on this planet, except here and within the ultra hardcore MAGA contingent.

Communist would be siding with the faction that wants to concentrate the power and the information in the hands of the government, like DOJ's grip on these files, and their refusal to be open or tell the truth. There's simply no way to suggest that Trump and his admin have handled this well. This one issue has rallied people against him and divided his supporters, especially when he called people stupid for wanting more information.
How can you be angry with Massie over this stuff? He's the only reason we got this latest tranche.

Blanche is the same guy that stood up there and said there was a lot of "abuse" stuff in the files, and that it would be redacted, and then said there was nothing there to warrant investigation. This guy is a clown.

We should learn more about this Yass guy.
In 2025, Yass has been one of the biggest backers of Trump and Republican PACs:
$16 million to the MAGA Inc. PAC, the largest contribution from an individual to its coffers so far this year;
MAGA Inc. is a prolific pro-Trump super PAC, raising $177 million in the first half of 2025. The PAC is expected to spend heavily in the 2026 midterms and has already spent over $1.8 million against Republican Rep. Thomas Massie for opposing parts of Trump’s agenda.
$10 million to the School Freedom Fund, a Club for Growth affiliate PAC that backs candidates who promote publicly-funded vouchers for private schools;
$10 million to V-PAC: Victors, Not Victims, a fund backing Vivak Ramaswamy for Ohio’s 2026 Senate race;
$740,100 to the NRSC Victory fund, the PAC for Republican Senatorial campaigns;
$100,000 to Emmer Majority Builders, the PAC for House Majority Whip Tom Emmer.
Jeffrey Yass is the co-founder and managing director of the investment and trading firm Susquehanna International Group.
In the 2024 election cycle, Yass was a major donor to Republican-aligned PACs. He donated:
$19 million to the Club For Growth Action PAC, a powerhouse donor in both Republican primaries and general elections;
$13 million to the Protect Freedom PAC, a libertarian PAC founded by former campaign operatives of Senators Ron and Rand Paul;
$8 million to the School Freedom Fund;
$5.2 million to the AFC Victory Fund, a PAC operated by the school voucher and education reform advocacy group American Federation for Children;
Betsy DeVos, former Secretary of Education during the first Trump administration, previously served as AFC’s chairman. Current board members include chairman William Oberndorf, a billionaire GOP donor who led the recall effort of San Francisco Attorney General Chesa Boudin, former Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker, and Stacy Hock, a board member of the right-wing Texas Public Policy Foundation and former Texas GOP 2020 Victory Chairwoman.
$247,799 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
Yass and Susquehanna were early investors in ByteDance, the China-based firm that created and owns TikTok. Yass’ share in the company is roughly 7%.
In March 2024, ahead of a House vote on legislation to ban TikTok, Yass met with then-candidate Donald Trump. Despite having spearheaded the initial push to ban the app, Trump reversed his position on the legislation just days after the meeting with Yass. Trump claims to have not discussed TikTok in the meeting.
Yass is a major backer of the school choice movement and reportedly discussed education policy in his meeting with Trump. Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill included a provision to implement a national school voucher program, a top priority for the school choice advocates. The voucher program allows for indirect funding of private schools through a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for donations to Scholarship Granting Organizations, which provide funding for private tuitions, school supplies, and homeschooling.
According to a study by the Economic Policy Institute, school voucher programs undermine public education funding through downward pressure on public school enrollment. Based on a review of Cleveland’s voucher program, EPI found that a 5% decline in enrollment can cost a school district between $12 and $31 million.
Susquehanna owned a 2% stake in Digital World Acquisition Corporation prior to its 2024 merger with Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social.

Seems like Yass is a pretty big Trump supporter. Also seems like he's a big proponent of school vouchers and weakening the Dept of Ed, and Massie submitted a bill to shut down the Dept of Ed. Yass is giving money to both Trump and Massie to protect his interests. Note the ByteDance thing as well. Just like Trump donated to D's and R's, and most billionaires do this as well, it appears Yass (net worth about $65B) has been doing the same.
