I hate that the media makes former drug addicts out to be huge heroes. That was my least favorite thing about Hamilton's rise to prominence. I never paid that much attention to what he was doing off the field though.

There are a lot of things I would like to say on this topic but I don't think I could do it any better than Baloo already has. Spot on.

Hamilton is a prima donna and he mailed it in last year before the all star break. He is the epitome of the spoiled athlete that truly doesn't care about the fans (or his own performance) as long as he is getting paid.

It's ironic because of how good the Rangers clubhouse is. Or at least they're really good actors

I don't disagree with what he said at all. Dallas is Cowboys first and foremost. If the Rangers aren't winning and then signing guys like Chan Ho Park, nobody cares about them.

Echoing earlier sentiment, it was obvious the guy is lazy and he probably would have been run out a LONG time ago in any other market

I think most have summarized my feelings pretty well. I'm actually a true Rangers fan who remembers sweating his arse off in 100 degree weather in 2003 as the team was getting analized to the tune of 100 plus losses.

Game on, Josh. Let's see how the chips fall...

He is right, whether you like what he said or not..Dallas , like all of America, is and will ever be owned by the Cowboys.

How many true baseball towns are there? St. Louis and........Boston? Can't be more than 2-3 of them.

Yet now he's playing in Los Angeles. The land of bandwagon fricks. The only reason to go to a sporting event in LA is to be seen. He should have kept his mouth shut. Ranger fans supported him big time despite the fact that he was largely a piece of shite / had to be treated like a baby in the clubhouse. And then theres the fact that he would get injured every other season.

Sure. He was a great player. He was also a great player who skipped out on an entire weekend of baseball because he said he had a headache brought on by sports drinks. He couldn't hit during the day because of his blue eyes. He went into a slump because God told him to give up chewing tobacco.

And on and on. A town like Boston would've eaten him alive. Hamilton still didn't really hear any criticism until late into his final year. And that's AFTER he had his relapse in Sherlock's and the photos of him cheating on his wife showed up online. People pretty much let that slide.

In five seasons in Texas, he played in 150 games only once. He missed at least a quarter of his team's games in two of his five seasons. And he had a personal life coach provided by the team to keep him out of trouble. I mean, has there ever been a more high maintenance player? And he still got a free pass for four and half years.

He should thank God Texas doesn't care about baseball. Almost any other town would've run out of patience with him a long time ago.

While I agree with most of what you are saying I disagree that DFW and the state of Texas don't care about baseball.

When our teams are good, we pack the house just like everywhere else.

There are no baseball teams that beat out the ratings and support of NFL teams, especially in lean years. That even goes for the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, and Cards.

Also, Cowboys Stadium has so many opposing fans these days b/c the area is sick of Jerry's bullshite. He has priced the average fan out of getting decent seats and given us a mediocre product for a very long time. Its much easier for transplant fans of other teams to plunk down the cash for a single game than it is for a Cows fan to pay the ridiculous season ticket prices for a team we all know is continually flawed b/c Jerry sucks arse as a GM.

anyway, JHam needs to STFU. That dude was treated with kids gloves and was so protected by the local media for most of his time here it was a joke.

He needs to get it through his thick skull that the only reason the fans and team turned on him was it was blatantly apparent he was dogging it the second half of the year. (of course he won't b/c nothing is ever his fault in his mind)

Hell, his at bats in the play in game were f-ing pathetic. Most of us Joe Blow scrubs could have gone up there and done a better job simply by taking a couple pitches each at bat.

I think Houston professionally is a baseball first town though the past few years have hurt this theory.

I really wasnt clear there.

What I meant was that just as we show when we are winning, the reverse is true that no team draws max capacity when its a consistent loser.

Ergo no town is truly a baseball city, football city, basketball, etc etc etc b/c fans will ALL start to jump ship when the team blows. This is especially true when you suck damn near every year for the majority of your teams existence like the Rangers.

Hell, the Rangers outdrew the Angels last year. I guess that means DFW has bigger baseball fans than Anaheim by Hamilton's logic?

except what he really should have said is

If a team for any sport isn't winning and is signing overpriced busts they will never get the love more successful teams get that are winning.

and like it or not, MLB (and every other sport) is firmly behind the NFL in pecking order in every city in America.

Bullstuff. Golden State has one playoff series in the past 20 years and still have some of the best attendence in the league.

I have no objections to what you said except when you quoted someone else and said that was my post. I didn't say that. Someone else did.

I just pointed out Dallas treated him with kid gloves.

uhh no.

their attendance only got better once the team had some hope with a young roster.

if they fall apart and go back to being terribad their attendance will drop again.
