ok man. I just showed you the numbers...

"he wasn't even that good"...

as in, he wasn't as good as he played the 1st two months of the season...

but still above average. Just not super human.

and you guys want to argue that you haven't been spoiled?

Have tried to steer clear of this discussion.

I equate the Hamilton/Rangers relationship to the slept with a crazy girl scenario. It just so happens that the crazy girl is super hot, or in this case, amazing at baseball.

Hamilton and his wife could have left it at Texas gave me a chance as an everyday player and I am forever grateful for that opportunity. Instead, they have continued to say almost childlike things. We get that Josh had his feelings hurt with the contract situation and the fact that he wasn't the Rangers number 1 priority. That doesn't mean he should belittle the Texas fanbase, who supported him from day 1.

It was obvious to anyone who watched the final half of the season that Josh no longer wanted to be in Texas. It was also painfully obvious that he was still one of the best everyday players even when he didn't care. That is why the fans booed him, because they knew he could have had an all time great season if he gave even the tiniest bit of effort.

The Rangers will be fine without him in the long run. Next season will hurt, but they still have a top 10 rotation and very good young talent.

What more evidence do you want? I've shown similar deals given to far inferior players, longer terms given to players the same age, the Rangers didn't offer him a contract and were offering more than he eventually received in April 2012, and haven't even touched on the fact Pujols got 10 years $240 million last year (speaking of guys who were an "old" 32 -- he's had questions about his birth certificate his whole career).

I've shown other examples of pain in the arse players who were even better that teams let walk. We've mentioned that the front offices have told the local media they were sick of Hamilton's schtick as well. I've also shown the attitudes of the local fans, who have supported this move, while criticizing other local teams for letting popular players leave. I've contrasted the fans' acceptance of the weaknesses of far inferior players, especially Michael Young.

I've even agreed with your assertion that Hamilton was a productive ballplayer and is still a tremendous talent, albeit one who is hurt a lot. Players with his level of production have been getting much better deals than 5/$125.

You've presented nothing other than your own assertions to support your opinions, other than to occasionally point out things that actually support my argument (Bonds was better, Kent was a douchebag). I mean, what else can I do other than get the Rangers front office to sign a notarized document that Hamilton's off the field issues lead them to not resign him?

I've presented, frankly, an overwhelming amount of evidence that this decision was far more than a baseball decision. Your response has been to call me a moron and say I know nothing about baseball. Why don't you present some evidence to support your argument? Because you've presented nowhere near the amount I have.

i haven't read this, maybe i missed it. so,,, link?

why was it such a big deal that Hamilton left without letting the Rangers match a deal?

Why was Jon Daniels not pleased with the way the negotiations ended?

i mean according to all here, they were never interested in re-signing him...?

BTW i didnt call you a moron. I think that 480. I insinuated that you are smarter than this...thus giving you credit for actually being level headed in the past. Just seems your emotions, like most Ranger fans, are running wild here.

answer me this, if Hamilton were 28 or 29 right now, do you think the Rangers would have paid him?

would this have even played on into mid December when he signed with LAA?

how can anyone answer no to that? If Hamilton were 2-3 years younger, they pay him what he wants and deal with his off the field problems, because he is an MVP caliber player that has been the best player in that lineup for the best Ranger teams of their history.

It's all about his age, and the heightened potential of his body breaking down because of the drug use(not to mention the fact that yes, he is always injued to begin with).

come on man. Every year is different in free agency, and every team's situation is different in that given year.

Jayson Werth got paid, yes, so what? most people considered it a horrible deal for Wash? But they needed able bodies, and Werth was coming off a monster year, and WAS had just lost Adam Dunn to the White Sox. It wasnt a great deal, but they had to pay(yes, based on past performances. He had a great contract year and had just played in 2-3 WS with Philly. His stock was up)

you can blame it on Hammy's personality, but it's all about the injury potential. Realize that Hamilton got 2 years less than Jayson Werth did, yet got paid the same amount of money over the length of the contract. So your point holds no water.

Adrian Beltre? Well, Hamilton will make $9mil more per year on average than Beltre.

The Angels paid for something....someone was gonna pay if not them. The key is the years (5). Says everything about the risk of injury
