?
To acquire the No. 2 pick and select Hunter, the Jaguars sent a package including their 2025 first (No. 5), second, and fourth-round picks, along with a 2026 first-round pick to the Browns

It was a bad trade. He’s played 7 games, don’t know if he’s a bust yet. If they keep trying to play him both ways, he’ll be a bust. Figure out what position you want him to play and let him focus on that.

He needs to be a DB permanently

No, but if we want to talk about busts, you are the JaMarcus Russell of posters.

Why the frick do you people insist on posting rage bait?
What do you get out of it? How is it beneficial to you?

Football season hasn’t even started yet.

Too early to tell but his slight frame may not hold up in the long run.

He is a natural athlete and you can tell he is special. He will excel staying on one side of the ball and jags will need him at db. He may play a couple of plays on offense. I think he will show up this year and will not be a bust at all.

He has the build to be an NFL CB, but does he have the elite quickness needed? He’s got unreal ball skills and he’s an incredibly smooth athlete. The jags need to let him focus on one position and tell him to master that

Thanks for starting this thread, OP. I’ve spent more sleepless nights than I care to admit toiling over this very question.
I’m very interested to read what everyone has to say about the bust status of a guy about to enter his second season in the league, so I’ll hang up and listen.

Might be too early to tell. I thought he would be a breakout star from the get go after seeing what he did in college

No, but giving up that much draft capital was dumb as hell.
Posted on 7/20/26 at 2:04 pm to JamalMurry27
Why of course. One season is more than enough time to say whether or not someone is a bust.

this is the correct answer. For that trade to have been worth it, Hunter would have needed to be elite on both sides of the ball. Otherwise, the value they gave away wasn't worth it. Even if he becomes an elite DB, if he only plays DB, it was still a bad trade

There was zero chance he would ever hold up playing full time snaps both ways for 17 games per year. The Jags should have planned on him only playing full time on one side of the ball. Therefore, they should have asked themselves if Hunter was good enough at either WR or CB to justify that trade, and the answer is no.
Too early to call him a bust, but not too early to declare that a horrible trade by the Jags.

Bust= to early yo tell
But what’s not to early to tell is they fricked up given up what picks they did to get him. He needs to be pushing all pro status for that kinda haul.

yep
they need to figure out his best position and go with that
it was an awful lot for that trade, it's not like you were moving up for a franchise QB

Is Mendoza a bust? He still hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass yet.

I’d downvote this post but it’s currently sitting at 3-28 so, out of principle, I cannot.
