There’s a huge degree of recency bias at play. This NBA offseason has been amazing, but it also coincides with the absolute dead season of the NFL. In a couple of weeks, after NFL training camp starts, we enter the doldrums of the NBA offseason. NFL news will dominate then, and carry on through the rest of the regular season and postseason. After the NFL ends, the NBA will take center stage again along with college basketball. It’s cyclical.

My last comment was some what in jest, but how can you not get excited about football?

For me it is more about the ensuing fall weather, bourbon, fire pits, and hunting season. Plus, with the schedule now you can watch football 5 days out of the week.

Basketball is only fun in the playoffs and the draft / early stages of free agency.

Me Anichka calls it reality tv for men. The actual regular season sucks balls

The NBA is the more trendy product currently. Middle America still plans their Sunday’s around Church and Football.

Actually the hottest league is the nhl, even though they play on ice.

Fantasy football was ridiculous this last year with the amount of injuries,

being invested makes you notice the brutal toll.

Fwiw No nba championship was won against a full squad in many years.

My least favorite.
Celtics crushed lakers by 20 game 1. Mchale tears up ankle game 1.
Lakers edge celtics 4 straight. One or two points. Ot too.

Witn full squad celtics dominate. With one guy out, lakers squeak by.

Cavs lost love and kawhi. Watriors win.
Warriors lost green and bogut. Cavs win.

I like NBA way more than NFL. I’ll watch pretty much any NBA game and enjoy it, and I’m always really into the playoffs. With NFL, I only watch the Saints and maybe some other playoffs, and the Super Bowl when the NFC champions are allowed to play in the game.

The NBA is more of a year round league. The finals were a month ago and the draft and free agency were big hits this year on unprecedented levels and summer league interest has never been higher. It'll taper off now that NFL preseason is about to start.

The NFL offseason is pretty lackluster, not gonna lie. It's really long, and trades and signings don't have as big of an average impact because one player can't change the fortune of a team as much as it can in basketball (or really any other sport for that matter).

Once the season starts kicking into gear it'll be mostly NFL/CFB discussions until the Super Bowl is over like always.

No. NFL kickoff weekend is practically a nation-wide day of celebration. Most people don’t even know when the NBA season begins. Everybody makes plans for Super Bowl Sunday, regardless of interest. The NBA finals are great but not too many people are hosting parties for it. I will say that the NBA’s free agency is far more exciting than any other league though

I don't follow the NBA closely.

But that's just me.

The NBA is not expanding though. Just because it keeps fans engaged in the off season doesn’t make it any better. At the end of the day, the NFL games are going to have huge ratings.
