Saw lots of loyal Saints lads at the game celebrating a win over a Panthers team that isn’t as good as they think they are. The chuffed Panthers fans were leaving with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Didn’t seem like the birds were very happy walking with their chaps down the concourse to beat the traffic. :whodat:

Should be a given from any true Saints fan.
I agree, and I feel the same way about Rattler, but damn it doesn’t feel like this is a common sentiment on this board or in the fanbase sometimes.

SIAP or Germans, but this dude just seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and wants to represent himself and the city in the best light possible.
He might not be a HOFer or even that good, but rooting for him to succeed nonetheless.

Gonna catch the VOD tonight, and we’ve got the Future Games Show tomorrow. Excited to see what the late 2025 release window has in store.

My baw, I’m on a message board talking about paintball in the year of our lord 2025. My cup runneth over in cringe.

Last man standing free-for-als was fun too.
We used to have a game type called Terminator where it was one person, given the best paintball marker, versus everyone else. It was usually a tradition for birthday boys, as they’d wear a plastic vest with a piece of duct tape on it, and hitting it was the only way to get the Terminator out.
Now, if you think that sounds fun, it’s probably because you’ve never been the Terminator, and hunted down by a dozen of your friends and family who have zero intention of shooting anywhere near the tape

I’ve been hit in the neck, jewels, armpits, behind my earlobe, and the only hits that’ve ever brought me to my knees were ones that hit my exposed knuckles.

Used to play a ton back in HS in the 2000s. Paintball has certainly fallen off a bit since its heyday in the early-mid oughts, but I still see lots of officially sponsored tournaments here in Florida, as well as plenty of rec courses.
If you’re just starting out for fun, find fields that have good rental package rates and a fair variety of different match types. Usually there is at least one woodsball field, some kind of CTF/Defend the Tower, and speedball (inflatable bunkers).
Your #1 cost is going to be paint itself, and depending on how trigger-happy you are, you can go through even a case of paint (2000 rounds) pretty quickly.
Like most group/team activities, it can be made or broken by the people you play alongside. From kitted-out try-hards (like me back in the day  ), to corporate team-building, and kids’ birthday parties, you’ll run the gamut of different types of douchebags. If you have a couple of friends that are willing to play too, it will be better and cheaper since you can split paint costs.
If you start to love it, then you can start the search for your own equipment upgrades and also start looking for clubs/fields that are a little more competitive and consistent in terms of skill level.
It’s a fantastic adrenaline rush, way to stay fit, and to pretend to be the John Wayne war hero that we all imagine ourselves to be. Don’t worry so much about bleeding welts as much as rolling ankles, as the latter happens far more often. Bring soft-mold cleats if you want, or just some solid outside shoes you don’t mind ruining.
Enjoy, my guy!

Call me old fashioned, but I guess I’m of the archaic mindset that you play your best players

I’d be happy if Sewell and Stutsman were just special teams beasts this year. If they’re replacing Demario or Pete for regular snaps at LB this year, something has gone wrong.

New 20-minute developer deep dive with gameplay dropped! It definitely looks like they took an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” type of approach, but I like the new exploration mechanics and the new tech to play with. Had my curiosity, but now has my attention:

I got smoked as LSU in the opener against Clemson in the rain. Definitely feels a little tougher or I’ve gotten really bad in the last few months, maybe both

A couple of recs from my library, but apologize if any have already been covered:
- Easy Red 2 (if you ever played BF1942, this game is a spiritual successor)
- Hidden & Dangerous 2 (older game, but an awesome tactical sandbox following British paras)
- Armoured Commander 2 (tank-sim/rogue-like with pixel graphics that may be one of the deepest tank sims ever created)
- Beach Invasion 1944 (arcade wave shooter that is great to burn a few hours)
- Battlestations: Midway (fun arcade flyer/shooter in the Pacific)
- Gates of Hell: Ostfront (arguably the best WW2 RTS out there)
- Classified: France 1944 (XCOM-style tactical turn-based strategy)
- Combat Mission series (deep, slow-paced real-time tactics with insanely simulated battles)
- IL2 Sturmovik (arguably best WW2 flight sim for the money)
- Mud and Blood (Flash-style top-down tactics with a brutal reputation)
- Partisans 1941 (highly underrated stealth/real-time tactics)
- Return to Castle Wolfenstein (or any of the new Wolfenstein games except YoungBlood)
- Sniper Elite series (stealth-action shooter)
- Steel Division 2 (a bit more multiplayer focused, but a great and beautiful RTS)
- The Troop (well-polished, indie, turn-based tactics game that just received a USA-focused update)
- UBOAT or the Silent Hunter series (deeply detailed sub sims)
- Hearts of Iron 4/Gary Grigsby’s War in the East 2 (grognard grand strategy WW2 titles)
- Hex of Steel/Unity of Command 2/Strategic Command (hex-based grand strategy)
Tried to give you a mix of everything, but as you can tell, I’m a big RTS/RTT guy. Hope this helps

The electricity emanating from that cameraman’s huge, brass balls could power a city for a year.

They nailed the aesthetic! I was always a little concerned that they’d opt for something more “cyberpunk” since it’s technically a dystopian society, but I love seeing the armored cars, M-16s, and the grounded 60s-ish setting.

Love the book and always had a difficult time imagining what a film adaptation would look like. This looks like it has potential!

Agree with most of the takes here: gameplay masterpiece with a story that I wanted to like, but that did not land.
I wish that they had bait and switched us at the very beginning of the game and had us play as Abby. Open on a total stranger and new group of friends, focus on making us like and relate to the WLF as a group of friends who care about each other, while gradually revealing more about their quest to Jackson and the motives behind it. Once you realize who Abby is, and why she’s going to Jackson, I feel like it would’ve given us that “oh shite” moment with a character we are starting to bond with.
Then, I’d have the game take on a more split narrative, with sections alternating between Abby and Ellie showcasing the respective repercussions of their actions on each other through Seattle Day 1, 2, 3.
Don’t know if it fixes anything, but give the players a better opportunity to bond with Abby before she kills Joel would have been a better way to have us sympathize with her, imo.

Ghost followed by RDR2, imo. As someone else said, Ghost is shorter and punchier, while RDR2 is much more of a slow burn. Both excellent, but different titles.
I’m a weenie so I don’t play the RE games

Is a Steam Deck something that would fall in the “cool enough” spectrum? Feel like the portability would really appeal to an 11yo, unless he’s specified that he wants a PC or laptop.
