the inability to create any parity or suspense whatsoever outside of the Final 4, along with a much lower quality of basketball overall means that sport is just doomed to never be watchable

Biggest problem IMO

You can find boys high school games that are more athletic and entertaining than the WNBA.

Parity or lack thereof.

College football is going towards womens basketball with the lack of parity.

Looking at the results of WNBA Finals, there’s been five different champions over the past six years along with three more different teams making the Finals over that time period. So there’s actually a decent amount of parity there. Women’s college basketball is a complete joke though. I can’t believe how much more publicity is given to that sport compared to men’s college hockey or even college baseball.

Because just about any junior high boys team could beat the best women’s college team in the country.

Going? College football has no parity

Womens college basketball sucks because they dont even do the fundamentals of the game correctly. Theres more skill shown in a 11-12 year old boys select team.

Lower the goal to 9ft so they can dunk on each other and we can get some cat fights.

That and not looking like they are using 16 lb. bowling balls when shooting from the outside.

Final wasn't as bad, 24 points.

UConn leading Providence at half 51-10.

I know this is a terrible take on here. But the WNBA isn't that bad to watch.

If you accept in your mind beforehand that it is a completely different sport than the NBA, it's doable. There's actually decent competition at that level and some fun involved.

Women's college basketball however is a complete joke and is very hard to watch.

As somebody who is subjected to more WCBB than i am proud of (my MiL played cbb and I tend to be around her in the winter months a lot. She’s awesome and watches bowls with me all during Christmas, so I’m not complaining,) the main problem is that you have 5 to 6 good teams every year, and the rest is garbage. Most years, if you have a game with TAMU, uSC, ND, UCONN, Baylor, Stanford, MSU, or Oregon it can be competitive and an OK watch. There’s just such disparity the rest of the time.

An anecdote: this weekend my 12 yo had his Rec league tournament. They lost in the finals by 1 with a waved off shot with one second left. They won the rest of their games by 6, 1, and 4.

I went and watched a few of the girls games that my friends had their daughters in and all the scores were 26-3, 18-0, 30-1, etc. all blowouts.

The girls team for my sons’ school lost by 2 in the finals. Something like 26-24. Their opponents and them had a combined 8 points scored against them in 8 games played for the entire tournament. So there was 0 good basketball being played outside of the top 2 teams.

We try to watch UK play. Not having a very good season.

One thing I don't understand and I see this with basically every team. Most are wearing false eyelashes, and gobs of makeup. If they have long hair, it's just flowing down their backs.

None of that to me says "serious athlete". It seems in a lots of ways it's more of a fashion statement than a game.

The problem I have with the WNBA is they look like men but play like women.
