If college baseball got the same support that women's college basketball gets from ESPN, I imagine it would be much more popular.

Dude they have tried time and again to feature college baseball on ESPN - it just doesn't get the ratings. If it did they would show it more, and when they do it does not get as good of ratings as women's college hoops...it just doesn't. Don't confuse women's college hoops with the WNBA, that is propped up by the NBA and would not be on t.v. otherwise.

I’ll tell you what, me and my cousin bought season tickets when Mulkey got named HC. Hadn’t been to a game in well over a decade. That woman has gotten me into college woman’s basketball.

I think the biggest problem is parity. It feels like if you’re not one of the top 8 schools, you have no chance. I think if there were better coaches out there that would help.

In all fairness, a couple of points

Both numbers are pretty piss poor

If college baseball got a quarter of the marketing of WBB, the numbers wouldn't be close.

I can tell you they pimped it pretty good back in the day - really went in hard for it - and got zero return.

But yeah, both have piss poor ratings...and baseball's are worse, I just don't think it has to do with marketing disparity.

Biggest problem IMO

You can find boys high school games that are more athletic and entertaining than the WNBA.

I’ve often thought that female tennis players like the Williams sisters benefited immensely from having their tournaments intertwined with the men.

It’s one thing to take up a women’s tennis match when a Nadal, Federer or Djokovic is playing next. I did that at a tournament in Miami several years ago. Far different if they’re playing in different countries. If it had been just a women’s tournament it wouldn’t have even crossed my mind to attend a match.

I bet the college women’s basketball Final Four would get better ratings if they played their semifinal and final games right before the men. I’m not advocating that because I don’t want to watch a second of women’s basketball while waiting on the men - but it would probably help their ratings.
