I was in the stands for that one and saw some of our players family members get arrested for jumping on to the field to try and get in it.

I was sitting on the hill. It is the craziest thing I ever saw live at a sports event.

Pistons Pacers, UM FIU, and Garrett vs the Pirates are my 3 favorite.

Kingfish and Ice gators circa 1998 or 1999. I was in the stands for this. Entire teams were fighting and the goalies met at center ice.

don’t know if it could be considered one of the greatest but Clemson and South Carolina had a pretty big one in 2004

Didn’t one or both teams decline bowl invites after that game?

The one I want to see is Miami vs SD State circa 1991.

I want footage of The Rock swinging a helmet at the SD State mascot screaming “I kill you!”

If you want one where fans get involved, there's the Golota vs Bowe riot

Riot starts near 3 minute mark

Every time you think its calming down, it explodes again even crazier than before.

There was one between Oklahoma and Okie lite back in the 80’s that was unreal. I haven’t seen video of it since then, but man, it was a huge brawl.

Fun Fact: The SDSU QB is Mark McGwire’s younger brother.

Most of the great ones have been mentioned, but I don’t think I saw the Sox/Yanks one w/ Pedro throwing Zim to the ground.

A pretty obscure one is G’town vs China YouTube

I was there, the coaches were even swinging clipboard’s at each other

The Kingfish got into a team fight like every game

1972 Ohio State vs Minnesota basketball brawl

Arguably the dirtiest moment in the last 50 years in college sports. MLB HOFer Dave Winfield was involved in this one.

quote:

Luke Witte is best known for the incident at the Ohio State–Minnesota game, played at Minnesota on January 25, 1972. According to the Big Ten Conference's review of the game film, Witte appeared to elbow Minnesota guard Bobby Nix as the two teams headed to their locker rooms at halftime. During the second half, Ohio State led 50-44 with 36 seconds to go when Witte went for a layup but was fouled hard. Immediately following the foul, Minnesota player Corky Taylor extended an arm to help Witte up, then kneed Witte in the groin and punched him in the head. While on the floor, he was also kicked and stomped by Minnesota player Ron Behagen, knocking him unconscious.

What followed was an extended brawl. Witte's teammate, Dave Merchant, attempted to come to his aid, but was struck in the face several times by Gopher Jim Brewer. Another Buckeye, Mark Wagar (currently the president of Empire BlueCross BlueShield in New York), was attacked from behind by Minnesota player—and future Major League Baseball Hall of Famer—Dave Winfield, who landed four or five punches to Wagar's head.

Hospitalized for several days, including 24 hours in intensive care, Witte's injuries included 29 facial stitches and a scarred cornea. In all, three Ohio State players were taken to hospitals.

This is the only sports brawl where criminal charges should have actually been pursued. Minnesota's players (and their coach) should have been hauled off to prison with the key thrown away. Yes, this includes Dave Winfield.
