I remember when Newman played Buras and Peyton was getting his arse handed to him and wouldn't come out of the locker room after halftime... Archie & his wife in her fur coat had to go in and get him out.... he threw 4 INT and Buras won 7-6

Carroll 93 team (beat West Monroe first state championship team)

Carroll 97 team (was ranked preseason #1 in 4A)

That 97 team was loaded .., key players where suspended and arrested during the season… Terrence Harris was the reason Brady James was 2nd team 4A All State when he was at Wossman( before WM recruited him across the river)

My son was one of the captains on that team. They were relentless. That o line was huge, Backfield with Brad Booth, Jordy Johnson, Chase Duplesis, and David Simoneaux worked together like a Swiss watch. Probably still have the all time rushing record for championship games for all classes. Undefeated 01 state champs 15-0

That team was so physical. Just wore people into the ground. I don’t think they had enough team speed to beat some of those evangel and west Monroe teams and if you could throw the ball that PBS secondary was just okay. But the line of scrimmage was a bloody mess.

That team was made up of a bunch of grown arse men.

I was on that CHS-BR team in the championship game.

I think the field tilted when they came out onto the field.

Lol, I was going to post the same thing but didn't want to read the whole thread to see if anyone else said it. Turns out it was the last post.

We went 16-0 with 10 shutouts. I think that's right.

I say "we", I didn't play, but was there at the time. I remember reading the paper every Saturday and seeing like 400 total yards of offense and like 5 passing yards.

The 2007 Bastrop team was amazing. Rueben Randle, DeAngelo Benton, Randall Mackey, and whole D Line went SEC.

You’re thinking of the ‘92 4A state championship team. 15-0 record and didn’t allow a point in the regular season until HL Bourgeois in week 7 or 8. Most people were certain Darren Barbier went down to the third-string D to let HLB score so that people would stop talking about the shutouts. Then the team had shutouts in 3 of 4 playoff games before beating Broadmoor 37-22 in the Dome.

1994 was a damn good team too, 15-0 also, but they only recorded 3 shutouts that season. That state final game vs Ouachita is on YouTube. I scanned through it the other night. Hahnville’s first offensive play was a play-action fake executed brilliantly for a 66 yard TD. Rumor is that Clifton White had to convince the guys in the huddle that they were actually going with a pass on the first play.

Uh 08 Destrehan won a close game in the Dome not a blowout. 14-3 and they ran back like a 99 years pick 6 late in the game when WM had a chance to take the lead.

Their other score came on a two hand shove on the DB, throwing him to the ground. Then the WR caught it and ran it in.

Not sure if the best but one of the best.

Rummel 2012.

14-0 first schools state title. Between the senior-freshman class of that team they had 20 players go on to play college football at some level.

Some key ones:

Kristian Fulton - NFL now
Chase fourcade - Nicholls state all time QB
Damien Williams - miss state qb
Steve Dunbar - Houston receiver, NFL Practice squads
henre tolliver - nfl practice squads
Cethan carter - nfl active roster

They should be in the conversation for sure. Great roster and solid coaching, strategy against Barbe in the finals paid off. They ran the play clock down to one second every snap, held Barbe to 6 possessions, bracketed their top WR with two NFL DB's, took away alot of what they were good at. Going undefeated with the schedule they played was impressive.

The team Gordon bought for his son at U High in 2018 was stacked all over the field. Maybe not the best ever but has to be in the top 5.

definitely in the discussion - that team was unstoppable, beat 3 other eventual state champions during the regular season.
