Why? Is it because he's taking advantage of companies throwing millions at him? We'd all do the same thing this kids doing

Not blaming him at all for making the money.. I just think the schools and companies doing it are dumb. The guy hasn't taken a snap yet.

If I was an NIL sponsor, I'd tell these kids, "Look, I'm going to pay you handsomely. But you get the money at the end of the season AFTER the bowl game. You're not pulling any LSU Opt-Out U shite, playing 3 games and quitting shite on me and still getting my money."

NIL is not going away. Once the door was opened, it was here to stay.

Disgusting. Kid is a millionaire and he hasn't done a thing in college. This is the type of stuff I expect will burn schools/boosters that will lead to NIL getting wrangled in.

Even if I was a multimillionaire I'm not sure putting this much money in HS football stars makes sense.

NIL money can't be tied to play. One of the few conditions.

Dude has more NIL deals and college stops than passes completed. Hats off to him.

The weaponization on the NIL front is fully underway.

And it appears that Texas is at the forefront of it (unsurprisingly).

so??

if you were a billionaire and you favorite hobby was LSU sports....what is the big deal about paying a kid to go play for your favorite school?

most of these deals are not from companies expecting a ROI...its simply buying players.

many like myself said this would happen and were told we were crazy...not so crazy now huh?

simply put...the moment cfb became a business and the arms race begun...these kids should have started treating it like such.

now NIL is out in the open and LSU better get their shite together or the texas schools are going to push our shite in with a 15 million dollar payroll.

within 2 years every scholly football player will be making 100k minimum. QB will be 1mill min. is what it is.

It will be especially stupid when USC is spending millions on recruits only to choke to some shitty arse Pac 12 team on a yearly basis.

They are money marks that want to buy players for their school to win games.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out when these money marks start bitching because the guy they are paying for isn't getting enough playing time. How much influence will these big paydays have on the coach's ability to put the best kids on the field

Totally disagree. There may be a few super rich donors willing to hand out some deals without much concern, but most of these won't last long if they can't get a return on them.

It's gross, but at least it's out in the open, I guess. I would guess the numbers come down in a few years when people realize they don't get much return on investment other than from the occasional quarterback. But, we're in the wild west era right now.
While I agree that over time we will see less of this, I do think that this will be an every year occurrence. CFB fans are rabid, dumb, and occassionally very rich people. This will happen more than we would like to think it will...

I think I may prefer CFB just implement a salary cap and go full minor league.
I think it would be more fun if the NFL just created a minor league and college football went to a student/athlete model, where it isn’t just a feeder system for the NFL.

Would both be more fun and the players would likely care more, kinda like rugby clubs.

Anybody who didn't see this coming is a fool.
And anybody who supports this is also a fool.

Football players at FBS schools have it made, at least they did 20 years ago. I can't imagine how things are now.

And what was wrong with the way it was before?

Why can’t an organization demand that it’s participants be amateurs? No one was forced to play.

But it would suck. College baseball and basketball would be much more appealing if there weren't so many drafted out of high school. There's no reason a full scholarship, room and board, a check every month to cover extra stuff, free tutoring, free clothes, free dining hall, etc., shouldn't be enough.

The big deal is that it ruins the sport.

Meh. He opted out of his senior year. Quit on his team mates, school, and community.
