It’s time to make football like baseball and just have some minor leagues. NIL is completely distorting college sports.

I would guess the numbers come down in a few years when people realize they don't get much return on investment
Only way the NBA owners could keep themselves from doing this was to not allow kids to be drafted until they turn 19. Basically a year after they graduate from high school. It's a stupid rule for stupid people that wanted to find the next Kobe, Kevin Garnett, or LeBron. If the one-and-done college kids weren't getting big money thru agents, you'd think someone would sue them. Now I guess assistant coaches won't have to be bag men. They'll just have to do the math for the kids.

When LSU hired Kelly, I noticed they were selling naming rights to head coaches, coordinators and lowly assistants there.

quote:

Brian Kelly-Dick Corbett Head Football Coach

Tommy Rees-John & Bobbie Arlotta Family Offensive Coordinator / Quarterbacks Coach

Clark Lea-Bob Hinton Defensive Coordinator / Linebackers Coordinator

Mike Elston-Bob and Leslie Moht Family Defensive Line Coach / Associate Head Coach

Terry Joseph-Pat and Jenna Eilers Family Defensive Backs Coach / Pass Game Coordinator

2020 Notre Dame Football coaches

Marcus Freeman already has the same Dick Corbett Head Football Coach
moniker.

I'm thinking this is where we end up with NIL. Just sell title sponsorships for players, and print it in the rosters, online and in the game programs.

Unfortunately, at some point in the process, the amount being paid will have to be divulged. The kids will want to compare, and negotiate. The high paying schools are already doing a good job of getting that info out there.

Don’t kid yourself a A@M is doing this exact same thing promising kids millions without any way of paying them
