every tragic situation like this devolves into a dick shaking contest of overwrought emotions. Happens in every thread regarding a tragedy on this site as well. (Rational) focus on the event gives way to people trying to convey how upset the event makes them and it spirals out of control. Most- if not all of it- is a disingenuous, mentally paralyzing sympathy contest of one-upmanship that prevents people from objectively assessing the situation. Its utter bullshite.
And there isn't a worse group to overdo it than sports reporters.

They should get a little heat for thinking they could play with a 5 minute Warm up.
Tulane had a payer need cpr and the game went on. The refs didn’t have time to get on social media and give their Ts and Ps. They were doing their job

I've seen no less than 10 posts from a bunch of mom's using it as a moment to publicly point out how conflicted they are every weekend in letting little Braxton play pop warner.

It's just virtue signaling. Par for the course for social media these days.

re is so much logistics that goes into an NFL game that it cant just be rescheduled at the drop of a hat.
quote:. While this is all true. Saying this while dude hasn’t even made it out of the stadium and the teams are still there is where he fricked up. This can be discussed the next day. Skip is a piece shite who just wanted to be the first hopefully somebody knocks his fricking arse out.
This also isn't just any game, there are a lot of playoff implications that would result from this game. Obviously the situation DID call for a postponement but wondering how they would pull it off isn't wrong.

People tried to crucify the nfl for the “take 5 minutes to warm up and get back out there”
People can’t grasp the fact that it was an ever evolving situation. I’m sure at one point someone got the ball rolling and said something f along the lines of “ok, if we play on, do y’all want 5 minutes for warmups?”
Someone on the sidelines heard that who passed it on to someone who eventually passed it to the booth as “the teams have been given 5 minutes to warm up.”
As discussion between the teams/refs/league continued, they decided eventually not to play. I don’t think anyone was being insensitive, or mandating anything. There was no playbook for anything like that.

They did figure it out, just not in 5 minutes...

You mistook the whole tweet if this is what you got from it. He was saying that this game has so much riding on it for so many people and still the game is MEANINGLESS because of the situation. God I hate defending Skip lol.

While absolutely ridiculous, I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by any of the national reaction. Everything has become reactionary 'outrage theater' in this country. Why would this be any different?
All the world's a stage..

I agree. Watching the overreaction develop in real time was mind boggling last night.

Last night on TD was comical with all the posters trying to one-up each other on how much they were concerned. If you didn’t immediately don sackcloth and ashes and paint ‘Slava Hamlin!” on your face you were the most heartless creature ever.

Not at the drop of a hat like last night where there’s playoff implications. And not just seeding, but logistics, TV deals, etc.

There is no one to blame. It was an unfortunate incident and it was handled as good as it could have been.
Twitter has just fricked all the mental midgets of the world.

It was a fluid situation. Once everyone realized how dire the situation was that was scrapped. I don't see how they can be slammed for a hypothetical that didn't end up happening.
I hate this idea that people, even well-trained people are going to act ideally in a crisis. Crises are frequently giant clusterfricks because training scenarios can't ever fully prepare you for the real thing.
From what I can see, I don't know what more the NFL could've done to handle things better.

I got wished death on my family by one guy named anitafan08 because he thought I just wanted the game to continue. I wasn't even watching the game. Dude must have been drunk.
