Could we all claim we have some small symptoms of CTE after our playing days ?

I mean, I'm a little nervous about the 8 years of bashing my head against someone else's.

Personally I'm not worried. I played from 5th grade up until two years of college. I didn't lower my head like an idiot and tackled with my shoulders. A LB I played with in college used his head like a spear...he should worry

I might have CTE and PTSD from 1/9/2012

My brain was in agony and emotionally I am not sure if I ever fully recovered.

those were times when safe spaces were needed. I wouldnt have left my local one for weeks if they would have existed then.

I'm really curious about that.

They have a lot of collisions as well as more games.

I have a friend who refuses to let their child play football due to the fear of concussions. So the kid plays soccer and last week received, guess what, a concussion playing soccer! The child cant watch tv/ipad for two weeks. Has to avoid bright light (if possible) miss some school, etc, etc, etc.

I (as I'm sure many others on here did) played tackle football from the time I was 9 until I was 18. Is there evidence of CTE in my brain? Probably. But I couldn't care less because for 10 years playing football gave me great joy. Are we now supposed to live our lives in a bubble just because something bad MIGHT happen?

The opportunity for most of us to play football, soccer, baseball, etc. doesn't last long. Get out and play while you're a kid!

You don't care now because you don't have any symptoms. You might care later.

I played football through high school. I've suffered four concussions in my lifetime, none as a result of football. I'm a little nervous, but there's nothing I can do about it.

I played from 3rd grade through 10th. I'm kinda worried about those last two years because I slipped off the bench a few times and hit my head on the water cooler. It was brutal but worth it because I had a great view of the game.

how often did you tap your helmet against another players? it doesnt take actual hits to your head. small, repetitive tapping is all it takes. personally im kinda worried but i didnt play long enough to where im really worried

It has showed up in HS players. OTOH there may be a selection bias. You dont do an autopsy on a living person so you dont have a control group. It may be that this stuff is common in the general population and just a hazard of living life. Or it may be as bad as the worst fears. We just dont know.

I spent 8 years being taught to tackle under the ethos of Riddell on Riddell. While we were continuously told to keep or heads up, we also felt our helmet was to be the lead of a tackle.. I cant even begin to count the number of potential concussions I suffered.. Saw stars on most days and went home with a headache often..

I say all this because Im sure that I suffered some ill affects but thats inherent of any physical activity that involves force physics.
