I think the generally positive feelings people (including myself) have about SVP are the issue.
Again, I don't blame SVP for all of the terrible trash journalism at ESPN. I actually think they benefit from SVP. He seems to still try to do a less hot take and more traditional media approach when I see him.
I also think if they fired him he could decide to do better independent media. And that would allow him to be removed from the trashy perpetual controversy media that ESPN now embodies.

Perkins loves attention. He'd probably accept a drastic paycut to stay there.

ESPN already getting feedback from fans about the Jeff Van Gundy firing. They ain't happy. Me either. The guy was incredibly honest and when the refs screw it up, and that was often, he immediately called them out.
He will not be out of work for long.

Clown world when Stephen A gets rewarded and Joe Namath's favorite drunk kiss is on the chopping block.

They are probably paying personalities like that next to nothing and we'll see even more of them going forward.
These big names getting the axe save the mouse millions.

He'll be at Turner by the end of the day

Not JVG, hopefully TNT scoops him up

Hopefully Greenburg too. Neil Everett's last Sportscenter was last Friday.

They need to get out of the NBA and let TNT do it all. Their product is absolute trash.

I actually like JVG

I don't watch anything regularly but I don't see why Buck or Smith are untouchable
Because MNF has been an absolute failure for 2 decades. Buck and Aikman aren’t the greatest to listen to, but they are still a top 5 broadcast team in the NFL. They bring credibility to that broadcast. Now they just need to get rid of the weird animation graphics

I’m guessing Doc Rivers will return to be the No. 1 analyst alongside Breen.

This is exactly what I said to another poster earlier who thought Buck was in trouble.

Greenberg has videos of ESPN execs or the location of dead bodies. He is the most untouchable personality in all of Disney
