Who do you think gets axed?

ESPN is laying off some of its biggest stars in a purge that is expected to result in around 20 on-air personalities being let go Friday as the network hopes to save tens of millions of dollars, The Post has learned.

Some of the top NFL, NBA and ESPN Radio personalities are anticipated to be told that they will no longer be on the network’s many platforms beginning Friday, according to sources.

ESPN informed all of its employees this morning of the forthcoming cuts on an internal website, according to a memo obtained by The Post. The five-paragraph note did not go into many specifics.

At the beginning of Disney’s three rounds of layoffs, sources told The Post that at ESPN, there would be “no sacred cows” when letting go of personnel.

Herbie, Stephen A., SVP, Buck/Aikman and Chris Fowler I would think are all safe.

Sam Ponder also IMO.

Steve Young is still on ESPN?

You could have told me he hasn't been on TV for the last 10 or 15 years, and I would have believed that.

I don't watch anything regularly but I don't see why Buck or Smith are untouchable

I like SVP but don't even watch sportscenter when he hosts. He was fun with Rusillo but it is hard to get excited about a 25 year old format with a perpetual shock and awe trash approach to sports.

Time was I remember SVP disliking the Cowherd style approach (to manufacturing controversy in sports media). Now SVP finds himself near the top of the media conglomerate which does this as their business model.

I hope he tries to keep a level perspective but it is really difficult to act like a sane person with reasonable judgment in the middle of all the pure nonsense. Bottom line if SVP were unexpectedly fired (with Buck and SAS) I think at least SVP would benefit from being able to do more of what he used to talk about preferring.

Buck is the voice of MNF and the highest paid guy at ESPN other than Stephen A. He was brought to ESPN specifically to voice and save MNF. He's not going anywhere. I wish he would do Sunday Night Baseball also b/c as good as he is w/football he is an elite baseball PBP guy.

And Stephen A, no matter what you think of him, is the highest ratings grabber at that network. He's not going anywhere either.

I've heard this a lot but never seen the "math".

He's fine. But not why I do or don't watch. FWIW when I watch it is often without the sound.

It's pretty much known.

That's fine. But neither Joe or Troy are going anywhere.

The funny thing is if they Canned him and Skip and anyone like them they would see people watch again.

Now most the "viewers" are tv's that are on in waiting rooms and such. When I was a kid we watched sportscenter to see Kenny Maine and Stuart Scott. Those guys delivered the sports news, they werent live clickbait

Molly Qerim is cringe terrible but i would feel bad if she gets canned because nobody will want to hire her again.

I saw Neil Everett was being let go. It wouldn’t shock me if Stan Verette (his late night SC partner) was axed as well.

I worry for Buccigross and Barry Melrose; I just don’t think ESPN gives a damn about hawkey in spite of having broadcast rights.

My ESPM viewing habits are why Disney has to continue to lay off talent. There's a lot more where that came from.
