Neil Everett was being let go

That sucks. I've always liked Neil.

It wouldn’t shock me if Stan Verette (his late night SC partner) was axed as well.

Probably so.

I worry for Buccigross and Barry Melrose;

Buccigross is gonna stay IMO. He's the voice of hockey on that network. I can see Melrose getting 86'd.

I like SVP but don't even watch sportscenter when he hosts. He was fun with Rusillo but it is hard to get excited about a 25 year old format with a perpetual shock and awe trash approach to sports.

Time was I remember SVP disliking the Cowherd style approach (to manufacturing controversy in sports media). Now SVP finds himself near the top of the media conglomerate which does this as their business model.

Huh? SVP isn't manufacturing drama. Unless he has some ESPN podcast I haven't listened to. His Monday night Sportcenter is the only one worth listening to and has no shock value to it. It's just a casual take on it, nothing like Cowherd.

I didn't say that he does. But the ESPN coverage is essentially exactly that. It is something like having a serious newsprint journalist (if those still exist) hosting a WWE event

I see what point you’re trying to make but it doesn’t really make sense when SVP has been an ESPN lifer for like 2 plus decades

He may have criticized that style of sports journalism (most of that energy came from RR who has turned like 60 percent of his content into talking about that topic) but he was always at ESPN doing it the way he thinks it should be done

It’s not like he was at fox and calling ESPN out for that and then moved to ESPN and started doing it. He found a way to succeed at his dream company without having to compromise on those values. Good for him.

Seriously. He might be the worst hire they’ve ever made, and they hired Rush Limbaugh.
