He'd have gone to the UFL for a year and probably only made a couple hundred grand, which he'd have easily made 10x that in NIL if he'd have stayed at USC for his senior year instead of entering the draft and then refusing to sign with the Bears.

oh I thought you were saying he had some kinda guaranteed deal to go to the UFL instead of College.

yeah going to the UFL wouldve been an awful decision even if he would have got paid millions.

He would have still been picked number 1 this year i

Guess he hasn't read baseball's CBA.

Foxsworth brought up a point last year that the players association should disband/de-unionize and remove the antitrust protection from the NFL.

I can only imagine the absolute circus of the players trying to afford missing paychecks and then funding lawsuits against the NFL teams.

I think the CBA probably helps players a lot more than it hurts them; even if it does somewhat dampens the earning potential of the .5% of the top players.

Chicago made a mistake drafting Williams over Daniels anyways

Anyone with sense knew this but the Bears were scared to death to go against the media.

No they didn't.

I'm not some draft guru and have been wrong before but I posted before the draft that I would take Daniels first and got downvoted and laughed at.

I'll just say this, if Chicago and Williams cannot have success (9-11 wins) within the next 2 years with the offensive firepower that the front office is trying to assemble then its on Williams.

Consider: DeAndre Swift (RB) Rome Odunze (WR) DJ Moore (WR) Devin Duvernay (RB) Cole Kmet (TE) along with Luther Burdon and Loveland in the last draft. On paper that's a quality group....I'd take that group in NO any day.

His dad publishing this drama will only make it worse.

Everyone with a brain knows Caleb would still suck with the Redskins. Bears are building their entire franchise around the kid, they have nothing to bitch about.

Or it could just be because the division is insane… they would have to beat Detroit, Minnesota, and Green Bay and those are three contenders so probably not happening soon

That’s also only 6 of their 17 games.

Maybe not. In Minnesota, I have real reservations about McCarthy at QB. He did not have a particularly stellar senior year at Michigan and the Vikings let Darnell get away after a very strong season.

I wonder with Detroit if twice missing out on the Super Bowl with Goff and what they have assembled will successfully last much longer. Good receiver corps with St.Brown and LaPorta

Green Bay has the coaching, though and a young very good QB(s) and a quietly very good running game.

Probably but it's also Bears and Bears and QBs don't go well together. They'd find someway to frick it up

There’s a story going around that Williams asked for some help w/film study and not a single coach would sit and watch w/him to break down film. If that’s true I do t care who you are as a QB b/c that situation is shite. I’m not sure why you’d ever draft a QB in the first round if you’re stage up not going to coach him. Seems like they may as well be the Browns w/how dysfunctional they are at an organizational level.

"I don't want my son playing for the Bears," Williams told several agents in 2024.

Looking for a way around the league's collective bargaining agreement, Carl Williams spoke with Archie Manning, who helped Eli Manning assert a measure of control over his eventual team in 2004. He also met with labor lawyers and agents -- and even considered whether his son could sign with the United Football League and become an unrestricted NFL free agent in 2025 to be able to pick a team

Can a guy no longer pull an Eli? Are there now repercussions?

Caleb Williams will never throw for 4000 yards in a season
