As soon as I made that post yesterday Rendon came off the market. Would have been a perfect fit for us for him to play where he grew up and at a place he definitely had some success hitting the ball. Maybe there’s still hope for arenado in a trade, if we are indeed considering trading correa.
Imo the Astros are stuck this year because of this cheating scandal. I think they’d like to add a big piece with a pitcher, not knowing whether LMJ will be fully recovered or knowing for sure whether whitley will finally blossom. But no one wants to touch us right now with this black cloud hanging over.
I personally think we’ll end up losing draft picks and getting fined, which will diminish our ability to get a big splash in this free agency market and hurt us at the trade deadline because we’ll have no depth after giving away so many guys last year in the greinke trade.

Btw, the catchers market is absolute arse. Chirinos has been linked to several other teams but no smoke on a return to us... if we don't get Robbie back, y'all prepared for the Jason Castro homecoming?

Between limited financial flexibility and this trashcangate, don't expect an exciting off season. Our prospect reserves were already taking a hit after trades of the last few years and now we're likely to get hammered with a loss of draft picks.
