From the financial standpoint of it, it doesn't make sense to dump Correa and then sign Rendon to a mega deal. For reference, Rendon turned down 7/$210 from the Nationals.

I agree with this..if staying under the second luxury tax is a thing. Rendon doesn’t make sense financially. Would be awesome to have him and he would get to play in his hometown . This would also mean that Springer would not be getting paid by the Astros after next year.

Well. Dumping Correa AND Reddick.

Although I don't see anyone taking on Reddick's full salary.

Andy Martino
@martinonyc
Sources say Mets have had dialogue with the Astros about Carlos Correa. Nothing imminent.

Beltran wants Carlito. Mets have some pretty good starting pitchers y'all may be familiar with...

I'm not Ludlow. And the thing you and I have in common is not knowing shite about trade talks. I'll just wait and see what happens.

You are correct on neither of us knowing shite, but I can't think of the last time a prime pitcher was traded for an injury-prone player no matter how talented

a prime pitcher

An injury prone prime pitcher who has never really lived up to his billing and openly complained to the media about not throwing to their starting catcher.

Correa has a much higher career war on BR and near identical on fangraphs fwiw

People like to act like the DAT is asking for DeGrom just because two years ago Thor was supposed to be the next greatest thing

I heard on the radio today that the Rockies are entertaining possible trades for arenado. Him or rendon would be an excellent replacement for Bregman when we trade correa and slide bregman over to short.

I still want a 2-year deal for Madison Bumgarner. Tell him you have two years with JV and greinke. Look what we did for Cole’s career. He’s a workhorse lefty with proven postseason success and poise. His addition would possibly put us even again with the Yankees who have jumped ahead with the Cole signing. You add either rendon or arenado to that and we’re the favorites again imo.

I mean he gas made 57 starts and pitched 350 innings the past two years, most coming last year.
Pitchers are more in demand than position players, we all understand that which is why Noah would attract more than Carlos on the open market despite both having an injury history.

Why is it that every free agent hitter who has a history of torturing us signs a deal in the AL West? can't wait for a season full of that pube chinned fricker sharing the division with us.

The bright side is his reputation is that he doesn’t really like baseball but is just really really good at it so he may not play for forever
