They had no problem with Carlos Beltran and Gerrit Cole in their clubhouse

If we resign Bregman, I’m happy. That’s a strong infield. OF will be musical chairs I guess

If that happens (personally I doubt it) wouldn’t we have a logjam at 3B with Smith and Matthews also in the organization? Could we flip them for an OF?

I absolutely hate this. Let Springer walk, let Correa walk, and now sent Tucker away.

I loathe this.

Under Crane's contract mandates, you have to trade Tucker because we weren't going to resign him. However, it's a bit annoying after all the years of success we've had Crane is acting like a poor and won't sign anybody. If Bregman, Altuve and Yed hadn't agreed to value deals at below market money, they'd already be in other uniforms.

I'm not real thrilled about being the most successful franchise of the last decade and having to send our star player to a major market team because Crane won't pay for elite players.

It's done. Wow.

As a Cub fan I'm good with it. Parades was a bad fit for Wrigley IMHO but his potential as a dead pull hitter in Minute Made and that short left field porch - he can easily eclipse 30 home runs and he's young and I think is under team control for 2-3 more years?

Hate to lose Cam but I've seen enough of the young prospects showing promise but never quite getting there that I can live with it and Wizneski was so up and down it's hard to project, but I do think he has promise.

Smith is still 2 years away I would guess

Doesn’t mean you couldn’t move him

I think Smith gets moved to a corner outfield spot defensively

But the outfield is a complete tire fire. At this point our starting OF is probably LF Dubon, CF Jake, RF Chas. Woof woof woof.

I’m just not sure how you can look at what Springer and Correa have done since leaving and get a bad taste in your mouth over letting Bregman walk

Getting a good return on Tucker when you played half a season without him snd made the playoffs last year

Your chances of signing Framber who has been consistent and durable went up now too

Smith played some LF in college I read and Matthews has dabbled in CF in the minors. Both are definitely good enough athletes to play anywhere on the diamond IYKWIM

Yeah you can always move Smith to LF or potentially deal him if he performs. It’s been a while since this organization has had a logjam of any kind. You get the most value you can and figure it out

I wonder if the Cubs would include Isaac Paredes in a deal for Tucker

Hate to toot my own horn but sources say this thread was the first place on the internet to get this trade

And people still doubt the DAT community leaders couldn’t do a great job running this team

It's more a gripe of the fact that we're never going to sign elite free agents and we won't retain home grown stars unless they give Crane a significant discount. Even the Rays locked up Wander Franco on a huge deal before he went on Atrapar a un depredador. 6 years 160 is Cranes apparent max deal.

So if you're not going to sign free agents or retain stars, you've got to draft well to replace them. Your farm can't go bare like ours is now. That's how you end up signing shitty budget free agents like Jorge Polanco. We're ending up back at the 2008 version of the Astros. Shitty farm, value FA signinings and a low to mid 80s win cap.

Will Tucker's shin pass muster or will this be Correa 2.0?

Smith went from Florida St to AA in 32 professional ABs. I like that trend.

Tucker’s psychological profile would be his best chance to fail medical
