What happened to that article from 247 last year with the players just being happy to be in the game and not concerned with compensation?

Is there an actual union? Not sure how bigger stars aren't getting more than the dudes on the team to raise the gpa.

This isn’t the 90s NBA where Shaq, Barkley, Jordan, etc, were getting their own games and opting out of NBA Jam as a result.

Barkley still opts out of 2K because they don't give money to retired players for their likeness.

Unless the universities sue on behalf of the players from using universities logos etc, they are basically out of luck
But even then EA would pay the universities minimal money

i want to know the terms of those past deals. were they paying Ohio State and ULM equal money? (even though we know which team was used more in the game)

But he’s saying if you can edit players and put him in the game, he deserves his money

But it's ultimately a fake, created player.

If I go to NBA 2K and create a Guy Fieri look alike, does Guy Fieri then deserve money from NBA 2K sales?

They can just opt out and not be included. My guess is most will participate and you'll still have some of the higher profile player not in the game because the people around them will convince them they're the face of all of college football.

You slap Guy Fieri's name, image, or his likeness on anything from a spatula to a bobblehead, and you wont be in Flavor Town, you will be in court.

Regardless of how people feel about NIL, it is a real thing. The supreme court ruling did leave it rather vast and vague, so if EA Sports wants to go that route and fight it in court, that is their prerogative.

If you had an infant whose photo (or photoshopped photo in a likeness case) was being used to sell baby food, and Gerber said here is $500 "be happy you got that". Are you going to be happy? Or are you going to take their arse to court?

for an infant, you can replace him with any baby or even an AI-generated infant and say "$500, take it or leave it"

For a good football player, they'll all want deals at a certain level (and people will notice if you replace them with a generic (or not a) football player

Then we will have crowdsourced roster updates to get the real rosters.

The exact same fricking thing EA could have been doing for the last 10 goddamn years.

This! Why in the hell are they still haggling over the NIL shite? We could've been playing it this whole time. Just make everybody John Doe and I'll do it myself. Hell before people started sharing rosters I used to spend the whole day I got the new game naming FSU's roster, changing numbers, looking at pics to get the facemasks and gear just right, changing the ratings, etc
As long as it's not Tallahassee vs Gainesville like Bill Walsh '93 I'm good

$500 will go nicely towards their new Xbox to play the game on.

Should give every player a free copy.

We lost CFB as we knew it when coaches got absurd contracts. Everyone made money except the talent in the field. The kids deserve to be paid but there needs to be contracts and consequences for breaking them

Most of the players will think it’s cool to be in the game and won’t be about the money. Kinda like being on a baseball card, I think they used to get paid like $100 by topps.

its beyond hilarious watching people act like the kids are the ones to blame here and not the schools who have treated CFB like the NFL for last 30+ years
