I can already see how this is going to end up. A bunch of players refuse and EA ends up making a game with a bunch of Jon Dowd characters. Then we will have crowdsourced roster updates to get the real rosters.

The exact same fricking thing EA could have been doing for the last 10 goddamn years.

Considering there is no collective bargaining. I assume EA will have to get approval and pay each athlete individually. This is going to be a disaster. $5 million for the NIL for every football player in the country is laughable. Might as well throw some money at the bigger names and use a random player generator for the rest of the roster if that's all they have to work with.

As in, it's laughable that they think they can do this with "only" $5 million.

I was doing those numbers quick on my phone where I couldn’t use Google, just trying to show scale differences in total numbers of players.

55 players per roster x 32 rosters = 1760 players

IF you do the same number per roster on college, 55 x 120+ = 6,600 players, or almost four times as many. And that isn’t for a full college roster.

I would just refuse at that point.

He could do that, and EA would just have a generic player put in the game, coders will release updated rosters with him in the game, and he will just be out $500. The players really don't have much leverage here with there being no competition in the market

They really shouldn't, people didn't play that game for the actual players. They played it to play with their favorite schools, I really never understood why EA didn't bypass the image likeness stuff with generic rosters.

But he’s saying if you can edit players and put him in the game, he deserves his money

NCAA pool is huge (100 man rosters x 120+ teams for FBS)

Wonder how many of those 120 actually turn a profit

Maybe she can paint her fingernails in protest like a good little fairy.

Who gives a frick about this? Sure, I want the game to come out, but the players are too stupid to understand that Electronic Arts is in the business of making money, they ain’t UNICEF.

This makes no sense to me. I thought with NI the kids would get paid market value. Caleb Williams should be getting paid a lot more money than the QB from ULM. If EA doesn't want to pay Caleb the market rate, then he is not included in the game.

Go frick yourself. This stupid shite is exactly why we haven’t had a game for a decade.

We lost college football as we knew it for 100 years so players could make $500 on their likeness for the game. Awesome.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the OP.

In a vacuum to where they are only looking at football operations? Not many.

When you take into account they are having to finance a bunch of Title IX shite which brings in no money, even fewer.

LSU is one of the few programs which makes enough to send money back to the school.

Hope we can still edit/share the rosters. No confidence in EA to get the rosters/ratings correct but the autists over at Operation Sports will put in the work

Can’t wait to see these whiners get replaced on the game with generic players.
The sad part is that most of them never grew up playing the game since it’s been 10 years

Good. They should just submit completely generic rosters and let the community update and roster share.

Unless the universities sue on behalf of the players from using universities logos etc, they are basically out of luck
But even then EA would pay the universities minimal money
