EA has contracted OneTeam Partners to facilitate college athletes’ likeness. A source told On3 the cash pool for athletes was in the $5 million neighborhood, which would pay out to $500 per player. Sportico has also reported there are no royalties.

NFL players get around $17000 for Madden but it's far less players in the NFL than college

Well there are more than 32 teams participating in college football and rosters are double the size as well.

$500 will go nicely towards their new Xbox to play the game on.

We lost college football as we knew it for 100 years so players could make $500 on their likeness for the game. Awesome.

This makes no sense to me. I thought with NI the kids would get paid market value. Caleb Williams should be getting paid a lot more money than the QB from ULM. If EA doesn't want to pay Caleb the market rate, then he is not included in the game.

I wonder if they will be using name and likeness for only those players that are likely to get playing time.

NFL has far fewer players (85 man roster X 30 teams)

NCAA pool is huge (100 man rosters x 120+ teams for FBS)

This isn’t the 90s NBA where Shaq, Barkley, Jordan, etc, were getting their own games and opting out of NBA Jam as a result.

Will there be a Caleb Williams specific game with a market or would Williams denying his likeness to EA just mean a replacement player like Randall Cunningham has on Tecmo Super Bowl?

They never even had all the scholarship players in previous games. Rosters were capped at like 70 players.

$500 seems reasonable. After all, there's 100+ teams in college, and rosters are much larger than NFL.

Allow players to opt out. If they do, their roster spot will be a random generated person

What’s his market value when there is no other game he can sell his likeness to? I’d say his value is what the only company willing to make a game is paying.

Still, 70 players x 120 teams is a lot more fricking players than the full NFL rosters.

More than $500. I would just refuse at that point.

When did the NFL expand from 53 to 85 man rosters?

ETA: and contract from 32 to 30 teams?

Haven’t really been watching since COVId baw. Not hate. Apathy. I literally forget that it’s on because I’m busy with other things that took over basically subconsciously.
