This! Why in the hell are they still haggling over the NIL shite? We could've been playing it this whole time. Just make everybody John Doe and I'll do it myself. Hell before people started sharing rosters I used to spend the whole day I got the new game naming FSU's roster, changing numbers, looking at pics to get the facemasks and gear just right, changing the ratings, etc

The trick was getting the PS2 version so you could use a USB keyboard to put all the names in.

Most of the players will think it’s cool to be in the game and won’t be about the money.

Yep they will be way more worried about their stats than they will be about the $500 they get from being in the game.

. If EA doesn't want to pay Caleb the market rate,
$500 is the market rate. Who else is offering more?

then he is not included in the game
You asked him? You think he won't want to be in the game and up his profile as a top player in that game?

The game will be fine with or without him

its beyond hilarious watching people act like the kids are the ones to blame here and not the schools who have treated CFB like the NFL for last 30+ years

It's fricking insane. There's a large swath of people who demonize the kids for wanting even a slice of the pie. Then you have coaches, conference commissioners, and other people raking it in and it's fine because they're wearing a suit or polo shirt.

It can be both. Kids are already getting a shite ton. No one is forcing them to play

So those clowns killed the joy for millions of people so they could make $500? Fitting.

Now sure why they even need NIL. Just make generic players and let the game players edit them. Hell when you to Dynasty mode, they are gone anyway after a couple of seasons.

Will the transfer portal be part of the game?

I can already see how this is going to end up. A bunch of players refuse and EA ends up making a game with a bunch of Jon Dowd characters. Then we will have crowdsourced roster updates to get the real rosters. The exact same fricking thing EA could have been doing for the last 10 goddamn years.

Exactly!

I don’t think anybody on this board would care if they had to download rosters generated by the public. When playing dynasty mode, your roster was different in a few seasons anyway.

Right. But there’s a shitload of people in this world, and I’m sure many look like Caleb Williams. Where do you draw the line? If I create a QB with the same number on his jersey, make him 6’1” / 185 instead of 6’0 / 170, is that enough of a difference? What if I make his skin tone slightly off and he looks more hispanic than black?

Sorry Caleb, you don’t own the rights to the jersey number, your height and weight, and some rating attached to how well you throw.

I get it, but sometimes kids need to stay kids. Otherwise, when Braxxt’n hits 3 bombs in the Lafayette World Series, I’m expecting him to get a cut of the gate.
