re: Group of 5 conferences to unveil their own Top 25 poll in 2024
Posted by Gountiss on 5/8/24 at 2:42 pm
The G5 could get some attention if they slotted a week late in the season purely for non-con matchups that would be determined mid way through the season. Similar to the Bracket Buster in College Basketball they did a few years ago. Like if you have two undefeated G5 teams playing the week where m...
re: Montego Bay - anything worth seeing off of the resort?
Posted by Gountiss on 5/4/24 at 10:16 pm
Jamaica is very third world outside of the resort areas. I’d urge against leaving the property ...
re: First Round NFL Draft: 8 OTs (record), 6 QBs (ties record) and 7 WRs (ties record)
Posted by Gountiss on 4/26/24 at 9:20 am
I think it has more to do with rookie contracts being such a bargain for those positions compared to other ones. A QB on a rookie deal is such an advantage when journeyman back ups command 15-20 million a year if they are stop-gap starters...

re: Report: NCAA could OK new transfer eligibility rule at next meeting
Posted by Gountiss on 4/9/24 at 10:59 am
Stop giving money to collectives and just let it be what it was originally intended to be instead of just money for being on a team as a recruiting inducement. That solves a lot of problems...
re: Do you want the hybrid kickoff in college?

I hate surprise onside kicks being eliminated with this rule so I’d be opposed to it. ...
re: This is Iowa fans pinnacle, WBB bc they know theyll never win CF, MBB, or CWS

Iowa has quite the wrestling program as well. They’re a very well run athletic program in a tough part of the country to be competitive ...
re: When do college sports allow unlimited eligibility and not require classes?
Posted by Gountiss on 3/27/24 at 8:14 am
They won’t do that because the NFL would argue it is not an amateur league anymore and start putting games on Saturday to crush what they’d see as a competitor at that point...
re: Utah women's basketball team hotel woes

In a time where snapping photos or taking videos of something has never been easier, these things just seem to never have any evidence to go with it...
re: Chargers' Jim Harbaugh calls J.J. McCarthy best QB in NFL draft
Posted by Gountiss on 3/25/24 at 9:59 am
Whoever ends up with the Vikings will be set up for immediate success. Whoever ends up with the Patriots might have a rough rookie year because of limited weapons around him. So much of it is based on what the organization does to help a rookie QB as opposed to ability...
re: What type of career would you recommend to an 18 year old in today's age?
Posted by Gountiss on 3/23/24 at 11:35 am
Also with trades, the big money is really made by starting your own business because your body will break down doing that yourself down the line. You have to have a little bit of people skills, bookkeeping skills, and organization ...

Summer internships are very important for connections and resume building. I kept going home during summers in college because I had a job with a landscaping company that paid me way more for full time work than I could get anywhere else. Got a great tan and a good work effort, but it held me back...

The Government doesn’t have much motivation to intervene because they are building a tax base from those that were usually not paying into the system. Athletes being 1099 filers don’t really have much time or knowledge of the tax code to take advantages of a lot of write offs so here we are...

re: End the Payne!
Posted by Gountiss on 3/11/24 at 12:52 pm
You can’t keep him another year. It’s a bad look to have like 1-2K people in a 20k arena. Just chalk it up to a bad hire and move on...
re: Chris Simms rips Drake Maye, ranks him #6 QB in the draft
Posted by Gountiss on 3/7/24 at 8:33 am
He definitely had a down year with a new offensive coordinator. Longo’s offense was much easier for him to execute. Like with most draft QBs, being drafted to a good situation with a solid team around you makes a huge difference. I don’t think Mahomes would have had nearly the same career if he g...
