I was never a fan of Romo, primarily because I did not think he had a good voice for broadcasting, but going back and watching the 2018 AFC champ game (NE vs Chiefs in Arrowhead), Romo was FAR more under control and didn't talk every bleeding second of the broadcast and didn't do all the stupid "oooohhhhs and ahhhhs' like he does now.

He was actually much better than I remember and it was so obvious now that he had just come out of the league.

He has regressed incredibly since then.

One thing no one’s mentioned about Romo is he’s basically morphed into Phil Simms who he replaced. Phil Simms did that same grunting “oohhh ahhhh” shite when he watched replays.

Well if y’all think Romo sucks, what’s yalls take on Tom Brady getting $375M to be a talking head? I’ve never found Brady to be charismatic or energetic in any interview I watched. He’s seems rather dull. Am I way off in my assessment? He just seems incredibly low key. I can’t see him being worth a shite at broadcasting.

He will be better than most expect because I think he can actually say really interesting things during a broadcast about how to attack defenses and what he would do in a situation, but no, overall I don't think he is going to be that great at calling games.

However, he will likely be far more prepared than Romo and that can't hurt.

Yeah I always got borderline Jim Harbaugh vibes from Brady. Really dry. He’s a perfectionist though so if he fails it won’t be for a lack of trying.

Funny how Romo being so annoying now and Greg Olsen being a relative “no name” has made Aikman popular. Nobody liked Aikman before. Or Buck for that matter.

What's old is new and what's new is old. If people can't get those old retro feels they at least want the new new. New from 3 years ago ain't cool anymore. Give it a few years and suddenly the narrative will swing back to "You know, Romo is actually pretty good!"

His analysis of the game is fine, but the over the top dramatics and approach is not enjoyable. That’s his personality, not sure that will change.

I still can’t stand Aikman fwiw. He makes the dumbest/most obvious observations and is slow to notice things a lot of the time.

Yeah, but he has another side where he huffs ammonia and yells at his teammates for not busting arse. Maybe there’s a good medium for him on tv.

Plus with sports announcers and news anchors alike, you are trained to be EXTRA engaged, kind of over the top enthusiasm, which seems like it would be off-putting but watch some of these people outside of the booth or not behind the desk and it's kind of night and day. You are performing.

If you can't get that down, you're not good TV.

Hating announcers/commentators has become so trendy. Not that I love Romo but it’s funny seeing the turn on him so quickly.

Can’t wait to see Brady in the booth - he will be worshipped for a while then everyone will hate him too

Give me informative over entertaining every time. If I learn something new about the game every time I listen to you call a game, then you're doing your job.
