Caitlin Clark’s salary PROVES, yet again, that NO ONE give a S*it about the WNBA

This is FACT.

Because if the WNBA had a semblance of a following it would be reflected in its revenues and thus its player salaries.

The league is a charity case that is propped up by the media and the $ of the NBA.

Unfortunately, we live in an age where logic, reason, and the market deciding what succeeds and what fails is over. Especially when it comes to issues of perceived lack of access on the basis of inequity.

It truly is pathetic.

Another, pathetic thing, was in a recent interview wherein Caitlin said she hoped her playing would inspire boys and girls. I looked at my 11 yr old son and asked “you feeling inspired to become a female basketball player after seeing that?”

Luckily for her, lots of people give a shite about Caitlin Clark, which is why she's already a multimillionaire

why does any of it bother you?

I wish the MLB would prop up a league for women's softball to be played at a more "professional level" than what is now.

the wnba union can't do anything
if they strike or walk out they will shut the whole thing down or get replacement players

Who is arguing that the WNBA is popular? No one.

What a waste of a thread.

Because its continued existence, after year after year of low attendance, losing money, no ratings is a sham and a slap in the face to anything else that was allowed to fail because it wasn’t the chosen one to be propped up at all costs.

Why are the ancillary football leagues that pop up every few years allowed to fail? Shouldn’t those players be paid to play arena football, USFL, or whatever else instead of loading boxes at FedEx onto trucks?

Why should these women be propped up when the money says otherwise?

It’s a slap in the face and contrary to the American way of life- the strong survive and capitalism.

instead of worrying about pro football leagues that never make it, the Rock or wrestling people need to start a women's league

have a regular league and then in the offseason have a barnstorming 3x3 league

Goodness dude. If the NBA wants to waste a ton of money propping up the WNBA let them do it. You don't have to watch

A private entity (NBA) choosing to do what it wants with its money, in this case funding the WNBA, is a slap in the face to the American way?

Making a repeat post on a message board complaining about WNBA pay and a private transaction made by the NBA is arguably more of a slap in the face to the American way.

Yep. Why would a red blooded non homo American boy take inspiration from a woman college basketball player?

I seriously have no idea.

Have you not been paying attention?

It has to. The NBA has to pay and pay.

The NBA would be crucified if it stoped paying for the WNBA.

or maybe the NBA sees it as an investment and feels that if they can get more women to become household names like Caitlyn Clark then maybe they can make money off of it someday.

You said it yourself that she is basically making nothing, so it's low risk (compared to how much the NBA brings in) and potentially high reward.

the women's college finals just did more viewers than last years NBA finals.

I'll never watch. but if they can pay Caitlyn Clark 1/400th of what Steph Curry makes a year, they wouldn't need to pull in the same amount of viewers as the NBA.

Thanks for all your hypotheticals in response to my argument surrounding a PRIVATE transaction.

If the government was propping this up, you might have a point.

Americans hate being shined on.

The WNBA is the antithesis of organic, we repulse instinctively.

Because we know it's not the product of Capitalism....

But the manufactured, installed sports version of Communism. Everyone gets a job....and we're gonna celebrate it.
