I don't care if you don't agree with that criticism, just don't understand the outrage of even pointing out that this has been an issue

do i really need to explain why a club that has existed 95% of its history without anything but white males could be interpreted as racist/sexist? Again, nobody is saying disband Augusta just expressing displeasure for how they have chosen to operate most of their existence

I'd rather you explain why you give a shite about what a private club, that you're probably never going to set foot on, is or isn't doing.

You do realize this is one of the most elite clubs in the country? And up until rather recently were women and minorities in positions of power? I'm not saying its right that this is how it was, but there weren't exactly elite African Americans in the 1930's in the Southeast.

Are these things that are not known? Because quite honestly, I feel like I've heard more about these things with respect to Augusta than about actual golf play there. You and Costas seem like you want to be treated as angelic voices crying in the wilderness bringing attention to an injustice of which no one is aware. Sometimes, I just wish people would shut up.

Maybe there weren't any African Americans or Women GOLFERS (Not even sure Condi golfs) that they saw fit enough for the most exclusive golf club in the country? Why is it automatically racist?

I choose to be socially and politically active in my country/community. But for the purposes of this thread I'm more confused why so many have a problem with anyone even MENTIONING these issues.

Because some of us would rather just watch golf, relax, and get away from shite like this.

Not really. I would bet that more people on the street would know something about Augusta's past discriminatory behavior than could name the past three Master's champions. In fact, I would be willing to bet a substantial amount on money on it.

Yeah well some of us would like to just peruse the MSB without having to read a bunch of entitled, ignorant assholes bash someone for bringing up legitimate social issues.

I guess neither of us are going to get what we want today.

if this were the first time they were mentioned, you'd have an argument. it's just an old, stupid story

it's the cheapest form of journalism, and i'm shocked that a person of costas's stature would lower himself to this level....well i guess after his ignorant rant about guns, i shouldn't be, but he should know better

Too much to ask. Everyone has to be championing a cause at all times and we all have to care about every single one of them or we are shitty, racist, elitist people with no regard for human life or decency.

legitimate social issues.

how is a private club's membership a legitimate social issue?

do you protest the local VFWs in Austin for discriminating in their membership, too?
