quote:

What no CBS commentator has ever alluded to, even in passing, even during a rain delay, even when there was time to do so, is Augusta's history of racism and sexism. Even when people were protesting just outside the grounds—forget about taking a side—never acknowledging it. So not only will I never work the Masters because I'm not at CBS, but I'd have to say something and then I would be ejected. [...] They do have a history that ought to be reckoned with that that they've only recent come to terms with—if you call this coming to terms with it.
quote:

I think someone should had the guts to do it along the way. Broadcaster, executive, somebody should have said to someone at Augusta, 'Look this is an issue. And this is not Nightline or Meet The Press, we understand that. But this is an issue. And it's an elephant in the room. And we're going to address it as concisely as we can but we're going to address it so our heads are not in the collective sand trap.'

I hope the next time he covers a Boston sporting event he calls out the history of racism and riots that city has.

Tiger doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Neither does mike tirico. Or condaleeza rice...or any other female walking the grounds.

There's a tangible link between sports and politics.

It doesn't have anything to do with golf....I know what you mean, but it has absolutely zero to do with the golf being played. It's all politics. Just like when he went on his rant about guns at halftime of the football game. Absolutely zero to do with the game...he used his job as a soap box and that was bullshite.

Golf has a long history of exclusivity and racism. I just don't give a shite about hearing about it if I'm actually bored enough to watch Golf on TV.

Maybe I just didn't notice before but Costas never seemed like as big of a douche as he's been for the last couple of years. He's just a huge insufferable prick that likes to rip the fun out of everything at this point.

Why anyone would give a shite about who a golf club in Georgia that roughly a quarter of a percent of Americans could get into is beyond me. I'm a white male over the age of 21 and I guarantee they wouldn't let me in. Is that racism?

Depends. Do you have any half-black children or a black S.O.?

douchebags like Costas should stick to what happens on the field/court/course/track/etc... somehow we've come to the conclusion that opinions from professional sports voices should be taken into consideration.

Well, it wasn't an elephant in the room before, but Costas is doing his utmost to make it one.

The best way to end racism is to stop talking about it.
