Yeah, Steph is arguably the best shooter we've seen but his defense was average. Kerr actually did a great job coaching around his defensive liabilities.

Kobe has to be in Top 10 over Bird, more chips, and Dr J has to be in Top 15, he changed the game with his high flying show, a few more but that would be my only changes

Career Win Shares for each player in parentheses
(Not that it is necessarily the best stat to use but it does match this list the closest since the older players like Wilt and Russell are included and 18 of top 20 are in the top 30 in win shares)
1. MJ (6)
2. LeBron (2)
3. Kareem (1)
4. Magic (23)
5. Russell (20)
6. Shaq (12)
7. Duncan (8)
8. Bird (26)
9. Wilt (3)
10. Steph (30)
11 Kobe (18)
12 Hakeem (21)
13 KD (15)
14 Oscar (11)
15 West (22)
16 KG (10)
17 Jokic (40)
18 Dirk (9)
19 David Robinson (13)
20 Dr J (81) (Dr. J is ranked #14 in combined NBA/ABA win shares)
Others in top 30 Win Shares and their Top 100 rank
21. Moses Malone (19)
22. Karl Malone (4)
25. Charles Barkley (14)
29. John Stockton (7)
30. Chris Paul (5)
34. James Harden (16)
49. Paul Pierce (24)
51. Ray Allen (28)
53. Gary Payton (27)
54. Reggie Miller (17)
62. Pau Gasol (29)
68. Robert Parish (25)
Overall a pretty good Top 20, but you can argue for Moses, Karl, Barkley, Stockton, Paul, and Harden being in the top 20. The order is very hard to rank across eras, but i think they got most of the right players.

Glad people are coming to the realization Kobe isnt even top 10 all time.
No one had him top 10 before he died.

Tim Duncan was not a better overall player than both Larry Bird & Kobe. Great player but not even close to those guys.

I agree he may not be better than Bird, but they are close. He is significantly better than Kobe. His game being “boring” while Kobe tried to be a highlight machine doesn’t make Kobe anywhere close.
Duncan was the best player on 4 of his 5 championship teams.
Kobe was the best player on maybe 1. Gasol was better in 2010.

Pretty good list, IMO
I’d have Duncan above Shaq but I’d have peak Shaq above peak Duncan, if that makes any sense
I don’t know where Giannis landed but he has a strong case to be included in the top 20

I'd argue 34 is too high for Harden, much less jumping into the top 20. Harden is just a bucket getter and nothing more. He could fill up a stat sheet but did it in ugly ways with flopping and getting to the foul line as much as possible with petty fouls. Decent at distributing the ball but never really made his teammates better. Had some good years and deserved the MVP he got but overall an overrated player.

I agree with you on Harden. I was using his 16 win shares ranking as consideration for Top 20. Personally I would rank him around 40-50.
The BR list details shows that his ranking range was 24 to 89 amongst the panel of rankers which is one of the highest spreads of all the players.

Most will argue that Dirk is too high, but I love seeing him in the top 20. Well deserved.

I love Shaq but him being in the top 10 and Kobe not, is a joke.

The main one that is too high for me is KG.
Obviously he’s still an all time great. I just wouldn’t have him in the top 20.

No fricking way. He could not be an alpha. Had a chance with OKC Nd choked. Left to be 3rd wheel on an already title team.
He’s a role player
