But I also know when reading news stories like this, you’re often only getting a biased account of what happened. Too many times I’ve read stories like this that is meant to create an emotional reaction only to find out later there was more to it that was left out.

I also don't fully trust an article from

Well the story indicates that despite a drug sniffing dog, they found no weed. So again, how could the cops "Smelled" it to establish probable cause. A mistakenly identified smell by a moron cop gives them authority to trample your rights against unlawful search and seizure?

Man the police state sucks.

I don't see anything in the article that they personally went through anybody's bag. Just did a sweep with the drug sniffing dog. Dog smelt nothing, so they let them go.

There is really absolutely no reason for any routine traffic stop to result in a vehicle being searched.

Issue the ticket and move on.

Correct.

Never underestimate TD bootlickers giving up their rights they feel black people should not possess.

I don’t know what happened. I wasn’t there. All I’m saying is I don’t trust that we’re getting a completely accurate account of what happened.

The article did say they went through their things, to be fair.

They should be thankful they weren’t wrongly accused of rape like the Duke Men’s Lacrosse team was.

But illegal searches, we're gonna need to see more of those before we become "sick of it" amirite?

Definitely agree on the illegal search being an issue. But as soon as they made it about race i understand people rolling their eyes and no longer having sympathy. So tired of everything being about race with black people. It's beyond ridiculous.

Was it illegal? The article never said if the bus driver gave permission to search the bus.

I don’t know what the law is with a bus full of people as opposed to a personal vehicle as far as searching goes.

And I’m not saying it’s right to search everyone if they were given permission, but the question is if it’s legal.

Liberty County Sheriff William Bowman said at a news conference Tuesday that deputies had stopped several commercial vehicles the morning of the incident and found contraband in another bus.

This is ridiculous also. Hey, we found some drugs in your neighbor's garage, so now we're gonna need to search your shed.

Clearly they have the right to search any and all buses after that.
