I saw it in the background on the replay and never heard anybody mention. Thought maybe I hallucinated

Actually fricking wild they announced that. Rips the public legitimacy of one of the biggest wins in decades at an actual conference member. Could have just kept it in house. Since it doesn’t change anything, arguably should have

Hoping for all involved it’s fake

Someone in another thread mentioned that with 40 secs left, ND ran a play where no time came off the clock. Not sure if it’s true, but that could balance things out a bit.

not really. There's nothing that anyone can do at this point.

They save face looking like they're on the up and up and their team still wins.

BYU called a timeout with a running clock at 40 seconds. As someone else mentioned, the clock didn’t run at all on the play out of the time out and would have been 5 seconds.

Had it been run correctly, the game would have been over before NDs final play even took place.

They really have no leg to stand on.

That’s not what happened. BYU called the timeout with 45 seconds left, but it ran down to 40 seconds before the clock operator stopped it. They then re-set the clock to 45 seconds during the timeout. ND then ran their next play and it was at 40 seconds. So if people saw it was at 40 seconds during the timeout before it was re-set, didn’t see the re-set to 45, and then still saw 40 seconds after ND’s first play after the timeout, they think the clock didn’t run, when that’s not what happened.

But regardless of the PI and/or 1 second, it was a very poor and ill-prepared performance by ND, which should be the main takeaway at least internally. No guarantee you score even if PI is called, and especially if it wasn’t (but a second was added) because you’d still be at the 9. Even if somehow you won, sure take it and move on, but it was a very poorly played game by ND, need a lot of work to clean up.

That's what i thought I saw, but it was late and there were a lot of calls that I wondered about.

Thats incorrect

Right before that the ref announced to reset the clock to 45 seconds. Tv didn’t adjust that and instead kept the clock at 40 seconds and simply didn’t run it for 5 seconds

The clock was then accurate again

I actually saw TV reset it to 45 but it was as the teams were heading back on the field after the timeout, much later than it’s normally reset. They never showed the ref announce it and you couldn’t hear the ref say anything in the background over the crowd and/or Fowler/Herbie.

I had initially noticed at least three seconds went off (I saw the ref motioning his arms at 43, before the clock stopped at 40), but I guess it was actually at 45 when the TO was called.

But the chances of ND scoring from the 9 with one more play is like 10%. From the 2 if PI was called, maybe it’s 50% at best. And regardless, it shouldn’t overshadow BYU played better last night.

Herbstreit and Fowler and the retard ref in the booth should also be called out. They all failed to say shite about the 1 second when everyone here noticed it

Two weeks in a row conferences had to put out statements about screw jobs. Week 1 Michigan game too.

The officiating is ridiculously bad. Imagine if this shite all happened when one loss ruined your season. Now that 24 teams get in the playoffs the screw jobs will only become more plentiful as Vegas gets their influence on who wins games since it won’t impact a teams season anymore

My thoughts too, impossible that play was only 3 seconds.
