GOAT safety IMO.

His hit on Alge Crumpler is still the hardest hit I've seen in real time.

It's a shame what football has become. He would have penalized and fined for that hit in today's game.

(namely LT), but it's hard for me to imagine anyone ever being more dominant that Watt has been.

Watt ain't got shite on LT. Even with all the hgh and steroids.

Ray Lewis is the no.9 rated player all time in NFL Approximate Value, the equivalent to MLB WAR. Well ahead of L. Taylor. My favorite player to watch play defense was Ed Reed. I think Luke Kuechly or Watt are the best in the game today. Earl Thonas gets a nod too.

I’ve been watching since 82. And it’s LT
He could dominate a game.

Lawrence Taylor and most people think pass rushing was his best skill but he was better against the run. His backside pursuit was the most freakish thing ever.

09-11 Revis is the only one close

Deacon Jones was my first thought. I can't believe how few times he's been mentioned here.

LT and Reggie White have arguments but it's out of those 3 IMO.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Rickey Jackson, the best linebacker of the 1980's not named LT.

As for Henry Carson, he was a tackling machine on some shitty Giants teams before Parcells, LT, etc. came along.

Meh...Reggie White could set an edge like nobodies business. Maybe Taylor could pursuit from the other side...

But Reggie White shut down an entire side of the field. LT wasn't as good against the run coming at him.

BUt like I said, it's Apples and Oranges and we all remember the famous sacks and back when left tackles were as lame as right tackles.

And he was quick like a mouse despite being thick as shite

"The Minister of Defense" was on another planet during his eight years with the Eagles, registering 124 sacks in 121 games.

He was labeled the greatest DL in NFL history by NFL.com.

He was named to the 1980s and 1990s NFL’s All-Decade Team, the league's 75th Anniversary Team in 1994, and was a First Team All-Pro selection 10 times.

A first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2006.

IMO Bruce Smith>Reggie White. Obviously I'm basing this mostly on reputation but I would argue Alan Page over Reggie White too.

I just had to look up the 1st team All-Pro which is more meaningfull than the stupid Pro Bowl selection.

Jim Otto and Jerry Rice lead the league all-time.

The first defensive player is Bill George.

For all-time defensive players?

Ist tier, most:

Reggie White, Lawrence Taylor, Bruce Smith.

Behind them are Ray Lewis, Bob Lily, Singletary, Randy White.

Next 3rd tier...

Jack Ham, Ronnie Lott, Seau, Woodson, Butkus, Mean Joe Greene, Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, Ed Reed, Zach Thomas, Jack Youngblood, Chuck Bednarik, Deion Sanders.
