I swear to God the day Charles Barkley retires, it’ll be the saddest day in sports history. They’ll never be another show like Inside the NBA

I have been a fan of his since his 76er days and I find it amazing that he is one of the sport's most beloved characters now when he was one of the most hated players in the league.

He will be hard to replace. The only candidate that comes close to being able to keep Inside the NBA culture alive is Draymond Green. You hate DG on the court, but he’s great off the court, and has charisma.

I had the vhs tape of of nba superstars I think it was an SI subscription promotion from the late 80s. His video highlights from 76ers days was set to The Warrior. Dude was such a beast. He really was hated too.

not even close. Draymond thinks he's the smartest person in the room at all times, and he's an idiot.
What makes Charles so great is that he's genuine and honest, and he's able to laugh at himself when he messes up. He's just a normal guy up there that doesn't take himself too serious, despite being a celebrity.

Barkley is comfortable with who he he and has never tried to be pretend to be someone he is not. In a world where everyone is searching for ways to be offended and trying to show they are the biggest virtue signalers, Barkley doesn't care. That is why he is so refreshing to watch.

But the show doesn't work with just Barkely. Smith and Ernie try to play the role of "straight man" to allow Barkley's and Shaq's natural personalities to shine through. Barkley's comments there were pretty innocuous when considering the context of his commentary. It really wouldn't be all THAT funny...until the camera pans out and you see Kenny and Shaq giggling like little kids because Charles said "when as guy is banging you". That's what has always made the show great. It is genuine. You could see Kenny and Shaq having the exact same reaction even if they weren't on camera.

I don’t get it. The guy isn’t funny. Takes himself way too seriously. Completely full of himself.

If and when Barkley retires, Boban to inside the NBA. Will be a very sad day when Chuck retires, one of the best shows on TV in general not even just sports

Cowherd started a podcast channel and Green had his own show. He's actually really good and insightful. It's changed my opinion of him a good bit..

Too me, the funniest part of the entire clip is right after Chuck says, “because if you can feel their body”….he pauses because he realizes what he just said and in a defeated manner he slowly goes, “uhhh……come on”. That’s when you see that he noticed Shaq and Kenny trying to hold back the laughter

It’s the pause and the resigned “uhh….come on” that gets me. I have watched it a few times and I think it’s funnier each time

Fair enough. But “good and insightful” is not close to what makes Chuck so good.
