That's still where I think he goes. Cubs and Twins still seem a few years away from competing (though with all the money being thrown around, that could always change). Giants have their guy. Could always be a surprise team out there but the Braves and Dodgers are the only other obvious teams needing a SS.

Dansby should be less than that and we should be able to afford that.
I think he might be about the same or possibly more but for less years.
Imagine telling yourself a couple of years ago that we would let Freddie walk for roughly the same amount of money we would give Dansby a year later

Is Dansby's arm really that bad? It's always seemed pretty decent. It's no Simba, but a 4? I feel like maybe this graphic mixed up Dansby's arm and patience.

I stole this from the MLB Offseason Thread

Heyman said last night that the twins offered 10-285 for Correa, have now moved on to Dansby.

Some of y’all are just over the top. Dansby is not worth that amount regardless. It has nothing to do with any other shortstop or what they are getting. Dansby is not worth it. Sure he’ll have better numbers than whoever we put at SS this year but it won’t be 20plus million worth of better numbers. Whoever signs him will realize quickly they over paid.

Agreed. Would rather spend that money on an outfielder or another starting pitcher.

How much is beintidi wanting? He would be a good fit.

I really wonder if everyone realizes how stacked the Braves are.
Acuna will be back and healthy.
So will Ozzie.
We'll have Olson in his 2nd year with us. I would expect an even better year than last year out of him.
What if Riley gets better? He has every year.
A full season of Michael Harris. And what if he improves?
Murhpy and D 'arnaud sharing the catching duties.
Surely Rosario bounces back and has a better year.
Ozuna, Arcia coming off the bench.
And now for the pitching staff -
1.) Fried. Our Ace
2.) Wright - pitched like an Ace miuch of last year.
3.) Strider - also pitched like a dominant Ace much of last year
4.) Charlie - he should be 100% to start the season. I bet he bounces back...
5.) Soroka / Anderson / Elder - Soroka pitched like an Ace before. Anderson has won playoff games.
If one of these 3 figure it out, we're in great shape. And we have depth.
Bullpen -
Iglesias
Minter
McHugh
Yates
Lee
Add in Jimenez, Santana and maybe a solid free agent and we're gonna be stacked late in games.
This team is stacked. We don't even need MVP type performances from any of these guys... jsut their normal typical years.
The front office has done an awesome job of stacking talent.
This team is 90% complete - we need a Short Stop, an Outfielder and a bullpen piece.
I love Dansby, his leaderhship and his game. He is the definition of a WINNER but... this team can win with him, and they can win without him.

Whole lot of conjecture in there.
We are a well built team, but a lot of your reasoning is "what if?" and if that's the question you are asking, the "what if?" question for the opposite scenario is just as valid.
Progression isn't exactly linear. Just like with every year, there will be some guys that play above their previous stats and there will be some that play below. There will be some guys that have career years, and there will be some guys that you expect to contribute who get injured.
The issue, I think for many on this board, is that we had two clear holes to fill coming into the offseason – SS and LF – and neither have been filled... yet.

What are your suggestions here? Dansby is not happening. There's not a ton of money left (I need to see them get in the $220M range before I believe it; payroll is close to $200M now and I'm not sure it'll go much higher) and there are no trade chips left on the farm that have any value.
I think the roster is closer to complete than most other fans do. We might bring Duvall back and maybe one more mid tier reliever but I really don't think there's much left available for the Braves.

Think we are rolling with Grissom at short and after Dansby makes a decision we bring in someone like Wil Myers or Gallo on a short term deal to play left. Think AA would value the flexibility of those guys and they would be cheap. Probably a decent backup SS like Jose Iglesias.

You're correct. But if neither position is filled with a high-priced free agent, this roster is still so stacked, it'll be alright.
Again, I'd love to have Dansby back. 6 years and $150 mill but.... the amount of money and years that's being thrown around, I.m guessing Dansby gets a bigger offer than that.
So I'm thinking, unless Dansby is willing to leave 2-3 years and $30-$50 mill on the table to re-sign with the Braves, it looks unlikely, to me.
We'll miss his leadership and his desire to win.... but we might be alright anyways.

Sorry, but Dansby is not a player I look at and go WINNER. Sure he was on a winning team but his best post season was 2019. He was putrid in the 2021 and 2022 post season. Meanwhile the guy who put us in the WS is getting dogged by many of you. Sure Rosario stunk last year but he won us a WS, not Dansby.

Dansby hit 2 home runs in the World Series including the game-tying one in game 4 you fricking moron.
Dansby had a better World Series than Rosario.

Yeah we likely don’t win the WS without Dansby.

I think most of us would agree that if everything works out as you just stated, we're quite stacked. But there are an awful lot of "if's" in there. There is no doubt in my mind we are a playoff team again, as long as we can stay relatively healthy. It's the bigger goal of winning another World Series that I question our ability if we don't either get some more help, or have a number of players bounce back.
My heart tells me that Acuna should be great, with a hopefully fully healthy knee, but there are other things related to his swing that I'm somewhat concerned about. Hopefully he gets that ironed out and returns to form.
I don't have high expectations for Ozuna and Rosario, but just hope they can be decent at the plate. Ozzie, to me, is a huge question mark. His bat, though it has maintained power, has continually regressed from a contact standpoint, and like Dansby, he rarely walks to make up for it. I believe he's much better than he's shown there, and maybe he's become too homer happy and just needs to settle down his approach.
Then you have a bunch of guys who have been recovering from injuries. No way to predict those things. We're talented, but full of asterisks, so it would be nice to have a little more security. Oh, and Riley needs to not disappear in the second half this time, but I don't think he will. I thought he just pressed after the contract extension and got into some bad habits, but he's always made adjustments going back to his minor league days, so I think we can count on him to make the correction.
