Sure Rosario stunk last year but he won us a WS, not Dansby.
Have you watched this team at all the past couple seasons?

Sure have. And Dansby has been decent but he sure isn’t the reason we won the World Series. He’s an above average shortstop. He stunk in the playoffs the last 2 years. Sure, he had a couple of jacks in 2021 but when you get at bats most players will have a game or two. Grissom, if given everyday at bats, will also have solid stats. Dansby is easily replaceable. Sorry so many of you will miss the flowing hair, but just look at reality. He’s a streaky hitter with solid defense. And he sure wasn’t streaky this post season or in 2021. He was a hole and Rosario,Pederson , and Soler filled that hole.

So your strategy is to build teams with players based on their performance in a 2 week stretch rather than how they perform over the course of 162?

Dansby was on local ATL radio a few days after we were eliminted from the playoffs. He was asked what he was looking for in free agency -

His answer - a winning culture. Somthing along the lines of a team that was committed to winning cause that's his #1 priority.

He was the SS at Vanderbilt and won a College World Series. THe next year, they lost in the Championship game.

As our starting SS -

We have won the NL East 5 years in a row.
The last 3 years ---

We've lost in the NLCS
Won the World Series
Won 101 games

He's a winner. He has high expectations. And he's a leader.

So, not the Cubs, then.

I think we all hope we resign Dansby, but only if it’s to a reasonable, team-friendly deal. If he wants to maximize years/$$$, he knows he won’t do it in ATL. If he wants to get paid, and I can’t blame him a bit if that’s his motivation at this point, let’s wish him the best, cherish the memories, find a better everyday LF, and roll with VG at SS.

AA may frustrate us from time to time, but the best thing about him is that we can trust him to not hamstring us now or in the future by caving to a Boras type of deal out of desperation.

Agree with this. After all, we have already extended some our players that the jury is still out on, IMO. I am ready to begin the Grissom era

I really don't think y'all are ready for Grissom at SS.

His range isn't as bad as Camargo's was when we worked him at SS when Dansby was injured, but it's much closer to Camargo than it is to Dansby.

Plays that Dansby made look routine will be turning into singles.

I agree. I don’t think he’s ready to play SS in the bigs yet, if he’ll ever be. Not sure he’s ready to hit big league pitching every day yet either. I think he probably needs another year getting 4-5 ABs in Gwinnett.

And I think a big part of all this hype of him working out with Washington and AA being prepared to go into the season with Grissom and Arcia at short is AA trying to get some leverage with Dansby.

Probably not, but the only other options are Arcia or someone like Elvis Andrus. Dansby is priced out of the Braves range and there's nothing left to trade for a SS or LF without dipping into the MLB roster.

I get that, just seems like some people are in here thinking Grissom will pick up right where Swanson left off. Hell, maybe it does happen, but the chances of that are slim.

Yeah, I wasn't too keen on the idea of him staying at short based on things that I read about him before last year. But then when we all got to see him play regularly when he came up, he looked much less rangy than had been described. And with Ozzie at second, I was more hoping that Grissom could play left, if his bat plays, which I think it eventually will. Obviously he had the hot start and all, before falling off, but I like his patience for his age and think he'll adjust back.

Really would rather not have him at short this year, though.

I'm sure this is a dumb question but if Ozzie is back to his normal self, could he potentially move to SS and let Grissom stay at 2nd? I have no idea what Ozzie's ability is like at that position but I'm assuming it's not great since I've heard no mention of the possibility.

On Ozzie - They won’t switch him but he did play SS in the minors.

I don't think Ozzie has the arm to play short at a high level in the majors.
