Heimlich not pitching for Oregon St tonight. Source says that he decided not to pitch. Very interesting...

He released a statement saying he is basically quitting the team.

Didn't this whole situation come out publicly because he didn't report like he was supposed to?

Another denial post from the Oregon State message board, saying that Heimlich not starting tonight is because of rest
quote:

My guess is tonight's starter selection has little/nothing to do with the fuss of the last day or so. Stated simply, Luke threw much better with an extra day's rest last week and a start tomorrow night would give him the full week's rest. Jake's had his week...he's ready to go tonight.

Dollar to doughnuts -- PC has long been well aware of the LH situation and has been monitoring that from the start. He's undoubtedly hacked off that the Oregonian choose to publicize a private tragedy for no one's benefit except the Oregonian, but I can't see Pat letting let that effect how things proceed from here on out.

I've been wondering if this is the first his teammates have heard of this

Like, did he tell them about this shite in a team building exercise? Has he mentioned it in passing before? I wonder how his teammates reacted whenever they found out

I'd imagine not.

Why the hell would you tell this to your team? How in any way does that help anybody move on?

Do alcoholics and drug users say this in a circle with a team? Do you tell someone in an interview that you slashed a guy's tires in high school? This type of stuff, in my opinion, is on a need to know basis.

legally, the ruling was that he didn't know Oregon's reporting requirements.

Not sure how, considering as a junior, this wasn't his first year living in Oregon

won't pitch in the series per USA Today

quote:

Oregon State pitcher Luke Heimlich, whose criminal history of pleading guilty to molesting a 6-year-old when he was a teenager was reported by The Oregonian on Thursday, won't pitch in the upcoming series his team has with Vanderbilt.

Heimlich released a statement Friday about his situation and closed by saying that he "respectfully requested to be excused from playing at this time."

It's clear as day his teammates told him to frick off

OSU already knew about it, so there is no way this kid would take a fall for the university

I think his teammates legit didn't know and they all would have made a mockery of him and the game so he said deuces and is leaving

If they didn't know, he's done on the team for good. I don't think his teammates would mock him, but it would certainly be incredibly awkward for me if I were his teammate. Honestly he's probably done for good regardless. He's a complete distraction for them no matter what happens.

I don't see a way where this doesn't end with him killing himself.

Well, the draft has come and gone and Heimlich didn't get drafted. Went from probable first rounder to not drafted at all. Could have been sitting on millions tonight but now not playing ball at all. I know what he did and I don't give him a pass. He doesn't deserve to play ball and be rich but all that aside, he has got to seriously want to end his life right about now. National news pointing out he's a child molester, missed the draft, off his college team (did they win their super?). All of that gone the week before the draft.
